Kishmish: Fine Indian Curry in Fulham – Restaurant Review – Flux ...
food menu
The meat within the curries – pigeon, guinea fowl, duck – are more reminiscent of Henry VIII’s larder than anything on Brick Lane.
Lamb marinated in a lime leaf masala is served within the whole coconut in which it was baked, with the top of the fruit lopped off like a runny egg.
My partner’s murghabi masalam – pan-grilled guinea fowl perched atop a bed of risotto spiced with garlic and chillies – isn’t as successful, though again the meat is nicely cooked, with the guinea fowl wholesome with gamey kick.
There’s that satisfying sense that each mouthful is different from the last, that enough thought has been put into the composition to make these humble little rolls hold their own.
If the new menu was all flashy tricks and no substance, I’d be finding a new curry house too.

Top 10 things you need to know about Kishmish restaurant: 1) Fulham may not be where you’d usually head to in search for a top-notch curry, but this West London curry house has been building up a sterling reputation since 1966, when it first opened.
2) Kishmish has since been transformed by the original owner’s grandson, who has brought in a new chef and given both the menu and the venue a makeover, turning it into more of a destination restaurant; something which may have come as a shock to the regulars, accustomed to a more discreet local.
White tablecloths, fancy wine glasses, comfortable seating and, refreshingly, for a London restaurant, plenty of space between tables, make for an overall pleasing ambience.
6) If you’re up for the challenge of sampling meats that were previously unknown to your palate, Kishmish is the place to go: ostrich, pigeon, rabbit, buffalo and guinea fowl are all on the menu.
10) Having said that, we were relieved to hear that Kishmish has adapted to Londoner’s demands, and the extensive wine menu offers a good selection of international vintages!
