The Northcote in Leyton, London Pub Review and Details

Been using this pub on and off for about a year now.

Definitely a locals pub, but they have made me very welcome.

Great for sporting events, and the landlord tries to have as many differnent sports on the various tv's.

Only pub in Leyton I can find to watch the Six Nations and the Grand Prix.

If you want a warm Irish welcome, like sport and just want a traditional pub, this should be on your list.

An arty friend of a friend in the biz kindly gave me three useful names: Topsie Redfern, Ginger Johnson and Myra DeBois.

I mean, I was asking them to come and gig in our working class, predominantly male East End boozer (as it was then), where the first few Sundays were bound to be so quiet you might have to sing to the walls.

Topsie had them eating out of the palm of her hands with her cheeky audience interaction from the first show.

One week you might find yourself with Michael Twaits belting out his huge repertoire of West End classics, on another Cosmic will “roll” out old East End with the most fabulous Italian wigs you’ve ever seen; and then feisty, witty Myra DeBois will have her audience in total, awestruck silence.

This is box title Drag Out The Weekend takes place every Sunday evening from 7pm at the Northcote, 110 Grove Green Road E11.

Leyton () is a district of east London[2] and part of the London Borough of Waltham Forest, located 6.2 miles (10 km) north-east of Charing Cross in the United Kingdom.

The High Road Leyton bridge crossing the A12 offers some of the best views in London of the Olympic Park, which also borders the district, as well as of skyscrapers further west.

And, most recently, in the build-up to the Olympics, Waltham Forest Borough Council spent £475,000[11] restoring 41 shopfronts on the part of Leyton High Road closest to the 2012 London Olympic Games site.

Between 61 and 69 percent of its residents are either Black, Asian or from an ethnic minority, according to the London Borough of Waltham Forest profile reports for the Leyton (ward),[12] Grove Green[13] and Lea Bridge (ward)[14] wards.

The London Borough of Waltham Forest also operates Brooks Farm, a city farm in Skelton Lane Park, near Leyton Midland Road station.

In High Road, around Leyton Tube station, along Francis Road and in the Bakers Arms area — where the High Road, Hoe Street and Lea Bridge Road meet — upper storeys have been painted in bright colours and shop owners have been persuaded to forgo brash neon for more subtle painted signs.

Property Leyton has roads of Victorian terrace houses and purpose-built flats, as well as some Thirties houses and council estates.

The Capworth Street area will benefit from the reopening of Lea Bridge station in the spring, while the Barclay estate, off Essex Road, is close to Whipps Cross University Hospital and Leyton Sixth Form College.

What's new The Exchange is a development of 148 one-, two- and three-bedroom flats, including 36 affordable homes, in Leyton High Road.

Leyton Central is a Tudorvale development of 87 one-, two- and three-bedroom flats in Ruckholt Road, designed by architects Stockwool, which launched on Saturday.

Colourful pub that hosts regular life-drawing classes and serves food throughout the day This Battersea pub is from the Geronimo Inns stable - a group with a portfolio stretching all across London and down into Surrey.

The food menu focuses on posh pub grub, so expect Cumberland sausages with a provençale herb mash and a red onion jus, seafood linguine, a selection of sliders and baskets of calamari or spicy wings with a stilton dip.

A short wine list offers a good number by the glass, alongside a selection of real ales and continental lagers.
