Buckingham Arms | Real ales and private hires in Central London

A  friendly and welcoming haven in the hustle and bustle of central London, just 2 minutes away from Buckingham Palace.

The Buckingham Arms is also proud to be one of only 4  pubs to have been in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide every year for its 41 years.

You’ll be happy to know that a full range of Young’s real ales is always on tap.

We also have a fine photo of The Queen Mother and Prince Charles pulling a pint of Young’s beer – retaining our royal association!

Buckingham Arms in Victoria, London Pub Review and Details

Review analysis
food

This handsome pub which dates from the early 19th century and is situated on the back streets of Victoria is one of only ten pubs to have appeared continuously in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide since it's first publication.

This wasn't enough, however, to exclude it from the relentless rota of owner Wells & Young's refurbishments.

Having seen many other Young's refits which have erred significantly on the trendier 'wine and food' side of the pub trade, we had a certain amount of trepidation for the Buckingham.

Thankfully, it is still a pub - after all, local civil servants still like a good pint (which you'll certainly get here) - and the original features are still more or less intact, with many now gleaming after a good polish.

The blue velvet bench seating is absent however, replaced by additional chairs and tables, while the revamped menu still offers reasonable prices rather liked the old Buckingham, but the newest version is perfectly acceptable too.

Victorian Youngs pub famous for having been in every edition of the Good Beer Guide.

But it’s a good place for visitors who are in the area (and plenty will be) to get their Youngs beers (as many will want to do).

Located on Petty France a couple of minutes walk from St James Pk tube (DIS/CIR) - use Palmer Street entrance, or alternatively 7 or 8 minutes from Victoria, the ’Buck’ is one of two pubs (along with the Star Tavern in Belgravia) to have been a London ever present since the inception of CAMRA’s good beer guide.

Dating back a good 100 years or so the Buck is a single roomed boozer, wooden floored with a mix of high and low seating - wooden seats/stools and comfy leather armchairs it also contains an internal passageway to the left on entry with further seating.

Not a place for rare ticks or micros by any means but a trad boozer with a good vibe and friendly service.
