The menu appears to have changed a little, but other than that, this paragon of luxurious British dining seems to have found a rhythm and a routine that appears to be working for it.

As we’ve likely said too many times to count – if you visit a Marriott affiliated restaurant you are putting your money where your mouth is.

What I do like about the Marriott restaurants is that, although the food and service have always been of a certain calibre, they don’t tend to get snooty about the whole thing.

This lunch is a very strong option for hungry and affluent tourists, who want a quintessentially British and (possibly) very boozy lunch.

Depending on the courses you choose, you’ll likely find yourself wanting to walk off such a volume of lunch (I suppose the alternative is to fall asleep in the Marriott County Hall, but come on, life’s too short for that).

An intense barre class on ice followed by a special Botanical Brunch at Canary Wharf’s Plateau restaurant?

In an attempt to try something more healthy, I decided to take part in London’s first Barre on Ice event.

Define.London’s founder Ashley Verma has teamed up with Ice rink Canary Wharf and D&D restaurant Plateau to lead a one-off, hour-long barre session followed by a plant-based Botanical Brunch.

The vanilla ice cream perfectly complements the pineapple and the textured biscuit crumbs inside the ring add a satisfying crunch.

Plateau’s Botanical Brunch is certainly an exciting concept with an extensive menu offering something flavoursome for everyone from meat lovers to vegans.

Sadly as oysters are off the menu tonight, we can’t try the Sea Dog Martini, I feel I have to mention it though, as it features oysters, Japanese seaweed and citrus…how’s that for different?

Accompanying Jack’s dish is pot of golden Triple Cooked Beef Dripping Chips.

The rich, creaminess of the (unusually shaped) panna cotta subtly cuts through the citrus flavours while the honeycomb pieces adds crunch and sweetness to the dish.

Add to this, a chilled, cosy vibe, affordable prices and attentive staff who pride themselves on their work, and you have one incredible experience.
