Graveney and Meadow | Best restaurants in London

On a Sunday lunchtime I ducked into Graveney and Meadow for a quick drink and was pleasantly surprised when I found the huge outdoor area!

Would be keen to visit Graveney and Meadow for a night out (it stays open until 2am).

Very welcoming bar in Tooting Broadway, South London, the Graveney & Meadow is a lovely bar, restaurant and coffee shop all in one.

The bottle beer selection is strong stocking a small range of styles and great craft brands including Odell IPA.

However, the wine selection is strong, the cocktails are fantastic and the overall atmosphere which Antic seem to easily create in their pubs is inviting, inclusive and fun.

After the pushchairs role out, the students and groups of locals roll in to catch up over drinks.

The atmosphere is always buzzing in the Graveney & Meadow but not overpowering, a great place to meet friends, and cool.

Words: Vicky Smith The Tooting food and drink movement may not be a new one, but it’s ever evolving, and the roll-call of restaurants, trendy pop-ups, gastropubs and cocktail bars just keeps on getting longer.

co.uk) were some of the first to recognise that the area and its residents were crying out for somewhere providing good food and good times, and the multi-dimensional neighbourhood favourite is pretty much always busy – call in during the morning for coffee and homemade granola, book ahead for a weeknight dinner, or welcome the weekend with cocktails until 12.30am on a Friday – it’s as flexible as it is fun.

Not ones to miss a trick (particularly when it comes to south London), trendy pub chain Antic were also quick off the mark to open in Tooting, with Tram and Social (tootingtramandsocial.co.uk) keeping livelier residents satisfied with live music and late-night drinks.

But that’s not the end of Antic’s Tooting takeover: they now have The Antelope (theantelopepub.com), which serves a way above-average Sunday roast in an eclectic setting, and haven Graveney and Meadow off the high street and on to Upper Tooting Road, there’s thenewly-renovated Castle (castletooting.com), Young’s flashy interpretation to the fast-paced development of the area’s gastro offerings (and site of a truly impressive garden, complete with hireable huts).

In addition to the bars and restaurants on the main drag, there are new places popping up in Tooting Market all the time, including Unwined (agrapenightin.co.uk) – a wine bar funded by a Kickstarter campagn – a fresh juice bar, and a very cheerful cycle cafe, so get down to Tooting quick, before those queues get even longer.

Since opening in 2012,vthis multi-purpose bar, brasserie, bakery and grill has established itself at the centre of a Tooting scene.

Owned by bar chain Antic, who also own the adjacent Antelope gastropub and Tooting Tram & Social, Graveney & Meadow extends Antic’s interest in SW17 with more of a family focus and a popular all-day breakfast menu.

During the summer months the kitchen morphs into the outdoor ‘Salvador Lane’ barbecue, taking advantage of the vast outdoor seating area behind this former pub.

The menu includes pulled pork in a bun, hot dogs, and of course burgers, all flavoursome and of good quality.

During the winter months Salvador Lane closes for the season and the kitchen moves back indoors.
