Hip Replacement: Canova Hall review | Brixton Blog

So it’s testament to the lure of this new “bar” from Albion and East – the guys behind Martello Hall in Hackney – that I’ve already been back twice.

Hot-desking even has its own (great) value pricing structure – a tenner gets you bottomless free (and very good) coffee or fresh mint tea alongside your Wi-Fi for a day while £20 gives you all this for a week, £40 for a month.

The breakfast menu has generous, bordering on the greedy, portions of avocado, roast tomatoes, feta, chilli, lemons and pistachios on toast and silver dollar pancakes, maple syrup and crispy pancetta crumb.

The music is like Radio 6 on a good day (and I mean this as a compliment) while evenings and weekend are a bit hipper featuring DJs and live bands.

Particularly good, from the sharing section, were crispy fried aubergines, stracciatella, lemon and mint, spicy nduja sausage roll, pickled chilli and hot mustard and moreish pecorino and mint croquettes.

Renowned for its impeccable service, The Langham London was Europe’s first “Grand Hotel” and continues to reign from the British capital’s West End.

The hotel is located on Regent Street, one of the city’s premier locations and shopping districts.

For 150 years, the legendary hotel has enchanted royalty, dignitaries, and celebrities with its 380 elegantly appointed rooms and suites that evoke a welcoming, residential ambience.

The Langham London features in my top 10 list of the best luxury hotels in London.

In this review (more info below my Youtube clip & slideshow): For 150 years, The Langham London has enchanted its guests and continues to reign London’s hotel scene from its coveted West End address.

The wine list is a bit of a joke: choices such as “St Emilion £14” reads like something from a restaurant in Somerset from the 1970s.

Apparently they are about to revamp the wine list, which would be welcome, though pesky details like the growers seem to be a step too far based on the bemused look on the face of the manager when I suggested it.

I began with a pair of sardines, which sadly were cooked too long and so were rather dried out, served with a pleasant chermoula sauce, a Moroccan sauce made from coriander, garlic, lemon and olive oil; this was actually quite good, the lemon giving a welcome freshness.

The meat was certainly tender, dropping off the bone, and the lemon added welcome acidity, though the overall effect was something of a mush (11/20).

We tried Crepe Barbere, Moroccan style pancake with honey sauce, which was, to be honest, just bad.

Frankie McCoy reviews Café Hampstead: 'A bit pierce film and ...

There are no good restaurants in Hampstead.

Hampstead has Côte and Carluccio’s and Café Rouge — but now, also Café Hampstead, a new independent restaurant on Rosslyn Hill ‘inspired by the café culture in Tel Aviv’.

Inside, Café Hampstead was promising enough, with green floor tiles and faux art deco lamps; a shiny curved bar and inoffensive muzak (‘I bet they’ve paid someone to make their playlist,’ said my boyfriend, who personally crafts the nine-hour-long playlists for his own restaurants).

As expected from a café in Hampstead that calls itself Café Hampstead, there were crowd-pleasers of schnitzel and cod.

I’ll happily go Hampstead native for more lamb arayes but the pizzas had me screaming for Brixton’s sourdough-flipping shipping containers.
