Canton Arms, located between Stockwell and Vauxhall is a gastro pub that focuses on fine wine, the freshness of the menus,€™ ingredients and friendly service.

The simple earthy interior of the pub is created through oxblood coloured walls, jars of chutney and other preserves, wooden furniture, ambient lightning and rows of books.

Yet there remains a hint of a traditional pubs decor as the interior hasn’t been touched too much in order to make locals feel welcomed.

Canton Arms offers quality dishes at a happily affordable price making it worth the trip to Stockwell for a date as they do serve portions for sharing or nice indulgent dinner with jugs of French wine with family or friends.

If you a€™re a local, Canton Arms may just become your new favourite London pub!

Summing it all up: A new all-day destination is coming to Stockwell with the impressive pedigree of the people behind Waterloo's Anchor and Hope in charge.

Stockwell Continental is coming from the same people behind Waterloo's Anchor and Hope and Lambeth's Canton Arms.

Based on their Instagram account: "Mornings start with coffees, pastries and juices or stop by for lunch as the menu evolves with a selection of focaccia, fresh pastas and salad.

Evenings will be all about aperitivo, sourdough pizzas, homemade salumi and pasta.

Once they're fully up and running they'll be adding two pastas, more homemade gelato and a seasonal pizza offering too.

The Canton Arms review: A south London gastropub with a thing for ...

There’s one particularly famous dish that’s served at this south London gastropub – the legendary foie gras toastie.

The traditional London boozer gone gastro offers a refined menu of British classics and noteworthy Sunday roasts.

The Canton Arms did nothing with its interior to lift my torpor, though it's a lovely old pub, a huge bar one side and a huge dining-room the other (wood floors, mismatched chairs, pretty mirrors off eBay – classy modern pub , it screams.

We've all had a game terrine (£5.60) before, but this was so gamey we were arguing about whether it could possibly not contain wild boar (in fact, it was venison, rabbit livers, chicken livers, a bit of pork, pistachio – 100 per cent fantastic).

The chocolate pot was a weeny glass with mousse on the bottom, an oaty, biscuity, crunchy layer, cream over the top.

THREE MORE BROTHERS IN ARMS With pigs, chickens, bees and vegetables in their garden and bartered local fruit in their jam, the owners of this tiny pub are living – and cooking – the rural dream.

Main courses include smoked fillet of Welsh beef with oxtail duxelle, sweet-potato dauphinoise and Penderyn whisky sauce (£24.95) This solid stone-built inn is big on local produce, right down to the pickled eggs behind the bar.

Meal for two, including drinks and service, £75 There is one item served occasionally at the Canton Arms, a re-opened pub in Stockwell, south London, which best sums it up.

It is the meeting place of scuzz and appetite, the logical answer to the question: "What do you get if you cross a real old boozer in one of London's more energetic districts with a bunch of greedy people?"

They were fresh out of foie (though trusted friends say it is great).

Instead I tried the haggis toastie, the crisped white bread giving way to something peppery and dense and meaty all the way from Dundee.

That bar snack could also stand as a marker for this pub, which is a co-production between people involved with the Anchor and Hope in Waterloo and Great Queen Street in Covent Garden.
