Rossopomodoro Pizza Review (Eat London with Kids) - Babes ...

After checking out our Best Pizza in London feature, Rossopomodoro got in touch to find out if we’d like to review their authentic Neopolitan pizza.

As soon as we sat down, Ezra informed me he was too ‘big’ (i.e. greedy) for the Kids Menu and of course Jed insisted he could handle an adult pizza too.

While I love a crisp base, the Rossopomodoro pizza was both deeply satisfying and surprisingly comforting —- like having your taste buds hugged by an Italian nonna.

Despite bursting at the waistbands, it seemed unreasonable not to look at the dessert menu and the boys quickly spotted the Calda Calda: sweet fried pizza dough dusted with vanilla icing sugar, stuffed and drizzled with Nutella.

Rossopomodoro only hire pizza chefs aka pizzaioli who come from pizzaioli families, and make pizzas in traditional wood-fired ovens.

Rossopomodoro - a taste of Naples in Covent Garden

It lends itself well to the culinary preparations from cakes, sorbets, decoctions vinegar, jams, juices This is no normal Italian restaurant chain - Their unique approach to ingredients they source from in and around the Naples area.

Naples is the region’s capital and is famous the world over for their pizzas (think Julia Roberts in 2010 film Eat, Love Pray rather than Mystic Pizza).

Their pizza dough has a 24-hour long proofing process and is made with Caputo red quality flour and mineral water they import.

Rossopomodoro has other branches in Camden, Chelsea, Hoxton, Oxford Street (John Lewis), Swiss Cottage, Wandsworth, Kingston and Newcastle.

During the first week of the Easter holidays, we decided to meet Adam after work for a trip on the London Eye (more on that in another post), before hitting a restaurant in Covent Garden that was totally new to us, Rossopomodoro (try getting your kids to sound that out during phonics practice!)

Rossopomodoro are a small chain of authentically Italian restaurants, mainly based in London (although they have branches at a few other spots across the UK), and when they invited our family to give them a go, we jumped at the chance.

The children had ice cream, and Adam had the most incredible ‘Brioche al Gelato‘ (Homemade buffalo milk ice cream, stuffed in a warm brioche and served with your choice of topping)- which Freddie and Sasha helped him polish off!

So, how would you like to WIN a Meal for 4 (2 adults and 2 children) at a London branch of Rossopomodoro?

The prize is as follows and must be taken by the 1st January 2018:  A Meal at a Rossopomoro Restaurant in a London branch for a family of 4, maximum 2 adults.

This chain of Neapolitan restaurants must be doing something right - from humble roots back in Naples it's grown into a group of more than 80 venues worldwide.

The chain's ethos is one that sticks to those Neapolitan roots.

The stretchy, chewy pizzas are made with Neapolitan flour and given a blast in the wood-fired oven.

The wine list sticks to Italy, and most are available by the glass.

A short cocktail list includes rossinis, negronis, bloody marys and espresso martinis.
