Byron Burger should have fired a group of employees, rather than “lure them into a booby trap” where immigration officers were waiting to arrest them, the leader of a union spearheading a protest tonight has said.

Yui Mok/PA Wire More than 1,000 people are due to attend a protest outside one of Byron Burger's restaurants in Holborn on Monday.

The upmarket burger restaurant was accused of “underhand trickery” after it was alleged it helped the Home Office deported some staff from its London restaurants.

Tonight’s protest is co-hosted with the Unite Hotel and Restaurant Workers Branches, the United Voices of the World Union, London Latinxs, Black Dissidents, London IWW, Lesbians and Gays Support the Migrants, South London Solfed, War On Want and Global Justice Now.

Byron Burger said in a statement: The safety of our customers and restaurant teams is paramount, and we would ask protestors to respect their safety this evening Byron was unaware that any of our workers were in possession of counterfeit documentation until the Home Office brought it to our attention The Home Office recognises that Byron as an employer has always been fully compliant with immigration and asylum law in its employment practices We carry out rigorous ‘right to work’ checks, but sophisticated counterfeit documentation was used in order to pass these checks  We have cooperated fully and acted upon the Home Office’s requests and processes throughout the course of their investigations: it is our legal obligation to do so We have also worked hard to ensure minimal impact on our customers while this operation was underway Byron Burger staff described the moment they were trapped in a kitchen by an immigration sting, with one telling The Guardian under the condition of anonymity it felt like it was “the 1930s or something”.

ES News Email Crowds of protesters gathered outside a branch of Byron in Holborn this evening amid a continuing storm over an immigration sting.

It comes following claims that Byron enticed migrant workers into some of its London restaurants so they could be caught by Home Office officials.

Byron had earlier pleaded with protesters to respect the safety of customers and staff after activists said they released thousands of insects into the burger chain's Central St Giles and Holborn branches on Friday evening.

Byron said in a statement: "In response to the recent Home Office investigation, we would like to reiterate the following.

"Byron was unaware that any of our workers were in possession of counterfeit documentation until the Home Office brought it to our attention.

ES News Email Over 1,000 people are set to descend on the High Holborn branch of Byron burger tonight in a fresh protest over immigration raids – just days after activists released thousands of cockroaches, locusts and crickets in the restaurant.

Byron has been condemned on social media after reportedly collaborating with the Home Office to arrest dozens of its migrant workers earlier this month.

Activists release locusts in Byron restaurants after immigration row The post added: “Some 35 staff members, many of whom were led off in handcuffs and have been deported out of the country while hundreds more are hiding in fear."

It has been claimed that the upmarket burger chain lured migrant workers into 15 restaurants across London by offering them fake training days – while Home Office officials waited to pounce.

Now, campaign groups including Unite Hotel and Restaurant Workers Branches, London Latinxs, Black Dissidents and Lesbians and Gays Support the Migrants have joined forces to hold a second “non-violent” protest at 6pm this evening in a bid to “shine a spotlight on Byron’s unethical behaviour.”

It was just fine, but to preface this review, I only had a salad which is probably the last thing you should order from a place that specializes in burgers and meat.

I was trying to eat healthy, and that's what I got: a salad that was healthy and tasted so.

If I come back here again, I'll make the smart decision and opt for the burger.

The salad was a bit dry tasting, made with kale, chicken,... more
