Pan Asian Spitalfields Yuu Kitchen Restaurant London - Pan Asian Spitalfields

The dining style at Yuu Kitchen is a casual, relaxed and fun affair.

Our flavours are a fusion predominately from south-east Asia with some worldly ingredients thrown in for seasonality and variety (think Japanese, Taiwanese, Vietnamese, Hawaiian.)

The best way to dine with us (so that you leave with a full belly) is to select at least 3-4 dishes per person (these are small plates) from different sections of the menu and enjoy the great flavours with high quality ingredients.

Yuu Kitchen is primarily a walk-in restaurant however, you may make bookings for both lunch and dinner for parties of 4 and above.

Yuu Kitchen: South Asian Fusion Restaurant in Aldgate

Review analysis
food

It’s a fusion-style restaurant bringing South East Asian and Pacific Rim flavours to the table.

I recommend taking a perch at the open kitchen bar to see the action unfold as the chefs create dishes crafted by Aussie duo Stephen Lowe previously of Icebar and Jon de Villa previously of Nobu.

The crab bao is under seasoned and Scallop, Prawn and Chive Dumplings, over.

BBQ’d Octopus, mouth-wateringly good, soft sweet meat with a delicious outer char from the Big Green Egg.

Yuu Kitchen serves dynamic and vibrant food in a cool and funky setting perfect for casual dining.

A new restaurant is heading to Aldgate East from the people behind Icebar, but you can expect just a little less ice at this new place.

On the menu here is: Beer and wines are on tap, with seasonal cocktails including Asian Persuasion (Japanese Whiskey, Plum Wine, Almond, Lemon and Orange Juice) and Yuu Collins (Yuzushu Sake, Gin, Lemon Juice topped with Soda).

And there's a sake menu on top of that.

As for the look of the place - it won't be subtle as they've joined up with Hong Kong artist Lunatic and there's a big Manga feel to the decor.

Yuu Kitchen opens on 26 October at 29 Commercial Street, London, E1 6NE.

YUU Kitchen is East London’s latest restaurant opening, bringing Londoners the flavours of South-East Asia and the Pacific Rim.

If the management team is anything to go by, YUU Kitchen will be a successful addition to London’s food scene.

Villa has put together a menu dedicated to highlighting and displaying the exciting flavour combinations of South East Asia.

The popular Bao bun will be making an appearance, filled with ‘twice cooked pork belly’ and soft shell crab.

If you’re feeling daring then why not push the boat out and try ‘Asian Persuasion’ (minds out the gutter please), this cocktail features Japanese whisky, plum wine and some citrus juice.

I’d been looking forward to visiting Yuu Kitchen since the day they opened their doors on Commercial Street.

As Yuu Kitchen reached the top spot on that popular review site, number one restaurant in London (out of over 17,000 listed) I wondered if it was all hype, some kind of clever manipulation of the system, some fancy photos that made everything look different.

Bubble Tea: At Yuu Kitchen they don’t use traditional tapioca pearls for their bubble tea, they use light, fruity, juice filled bubbles that burst in your mouth with a hit of flavour.

Sticky asian barbecue sauce, chilli, spring onion, sesame seeds, and the softest Iberico pork.

I guess that sounds a bit gushy and twee, but it’s not meant to, I think you’ll see what I mean if you visit Yuu Kitchen, and hopefully you’ll be able to find your own words to describe it.

Yuu Kitchen is a satisfactory, if slightly gimmicky Asian fusion restaurant on the edge of Spitalfields, which serves up deracinated, on-trend dishes from Asia and the Pacific Rim – Taiwanese bao and Hawaiian poké, Chinese dumplings and Mexican tostadas – plus interesting cocktails incorporating plum wine, saké and shochu.

Salmon and pork belly bao were cold and underfluffy.

The poké was delicious but the portion size was measly for £8.

Barbecued octopus, scallop dumplings, chocolate spring rolls: there’s lots of cool stuff to sample here, but nothing that’ll blow you away.

And, if social media is your thing, Yuu has got it covered: its many accounts are all painted on the wall.
