The Jolly Gardeners
The Jolly Gardeners has a history as a pub for 120 years.
Charlie Chaplin was one of the famous locals; it is said his father was playing frequently on the house’s piano to entertain the local community.
Scenes of two famous movies – “Snatch” and “The Calcium Kid” – were shot in the pub.
After an intensive renovation the JOLLY came back to life under new management as Zeitgeist @ The Jolly Gardeners.
Being London’s first German gastropub the Zeitgeist offers a huge selection of German beers, 18 on tap and more than 30 bottled beers, and several German Schnapps.

A pub's name is an important part of its character, and in refusing to abandon this interesting Lambeth drinking den's former moniker, 'Zeitgeist at the Jolly Gardners' retains a pleasing link with the past.
But make no mistake, this isn't a pub called the Jolly Gardeners — this is a gastropub called Zeitgeist, and it's very German.
Zeitgeist serves three flavours of Rekorderlig cider (be careful to say in advance if you don't want ice), and numerous types of German lager, but no ale and there's a suspicious lack of suspicious German wines.
The pub itself is in two halves, with one section given over more to dining, while the main drinking area includes a huge screen for German sport, which you can imagine is watched with some fervour here.
German football scarves adorn the corner of the bar and a Jägerbomb machine hints at raucous times to be had.
Zeitgeist @ The Jolly Gardeners, Lambeth & Elephant & Castle
After an intensive renovation the Jolly came back to live under new management as Zeitgeist @ The Jolly Gardeners and is Londons’ first German Gastro Pub, offering 13 German beers from draught and more than 20 beers bottled.
On the two big screens they show Sky & Setanta including German Bundesliga.

Zeitgeist at the Jolly Gardeners | Bars and pubs in Vauxhall, London
In October 2007, this spacious Victorian pub in an almost comically isolated spot behind Lambeth Bridge was spruced up by new German owners.
A few German flags brighten up the pub – not something you would have seen in the middle of the last century, when this part of Lambeth was heavily bombed by the Luftwaffe.
The main attraction, of course, is the list of German beers, which contains few familiar names (Beck’s is about it) and covers most styles, from aromatic weiss varieties through light pilsners to darker brews.
Occasional beer festivals further increase the variety.
The bar’s popular with German expats, who gather to watch Bundesliga matches on two big screens.
