Kashmir Restaurant

Kashmir

It’s our mission to bring real Kashmiri cuisine and the warm hospitality of the Kashmir Valley to London, which you won’t find anywhere else in the UK.

Once seated, you’ll ceremoniously wash your hands at the table in true Kashmiri style in an ornate vessel called Tashtri.

The menu includes tempting authentic Indian dishes to suit all palates, and our waiting staff are on hand to help you choose if necessary.

The dishes are then cooked to order, using a combination of aromatic spices and herbs- creating delicious flavours you won’t find for thousands of miles.

Kashmir, Putney review – menu handholding that doesn't infantilise ...

Kashmir’s lamb seekh kebabs were far better than the usual curry house versions – moist and smoothly textured with a mild herby bitterness.

The cumulative heat was sweat-inducing, while the taste of cardamom and bay leaves in the sauce meshed well with the almonds and cashews of the Kashmiri pulao rice, a side dish ordered separately.

Kashmir’s chicken korma wasn’t anywhere as sickly sweet or cloyingly creamy as the worse examples of this dish.

If there’s one meatball dish at Kashmir that can outdo the Gushtaba in sheer deliciousness, then it has to be the occasional lamb and prune special.

The red sauce wasn’t anywhere as exceptionally well-flavoured as the sauces accompanying the lamb and prune meatballs or the aubergine curry, but its lightly sour and umami qualities were still pleasing.

There's a new Kashmiri restaurant on the way to Putney - here's what we know so far... It started as a catering business in India.

Husband and wife owners Chef Rohit Razdan and Shweta Razdan then then turned it into a restaurant in New Delhi before moving again to Singapore.

In London, it will be a restaurant and takeaway.

They'll seat 55 and Rohit and Shweta are looking after the food.

They're aiming for a "truly authentic Kashmiri dining experience" so expect lots more Kashmiri dishes highlighted on the menu too.
