The Queen Adelaide, Putney

Top 10 things we learnt about the Queen Adelaide pub: 1) It’s far removed from anything approaching civilisation, and deeply ensconced in residential Putney.

4) The dining room is situated towards the back of the venue - its conservatory-style windows, high ceiling, stately tables and stone floor call to mind the most luxurious stable you’ll ever eat in.

6) The food is consistently great and a little surprising, from the Adelaide’s tapas style entrees to hefty, traditional main courses including pan-roasted hake, dressed Brixham crab, sirloin steak and even a “posh chicken Kiev”.

9) The weekly pub quiz on Wednesdays is a great source of camaraderie, although it can be an aural nuisance for diners seeking privacy next door.

10) Otherwise the Queen Adelaide is a great place for work and play, meet-ups and casual dining.

Valentina Fine Foods Putney, Putney

Myself and Italian food have a bit of a love-hate relationship.

Valentina is unique in the sense that instead of the starter-main process, it serves ‘Spuntinos’; essentially, Italian tapas.

When I chose the Tuscan sausages, the waiter accused me of not ordering something ‘really Italian’.

The white wine we were served went down a treat, and I swear the flavours were so subtle I could have sung an Italian aria without my usual warm up... lalalalalaaa.....!

They say the show aint over till the Fat Lady sings... well, I can pleasingly say, having thought my night’s feast through, my love-hate relationship with Italian food was now converted to a love relationship – exclusive to Valentina that is.

Very nice restaurant with good decor, atmosphere, music and service.

Lovely restaurant with great food.

The pork belly was amazing as well as the duck dumplings to start Very good food and service Very convenient if staying in the Hotel Stayed during Wimbledon week which was great as the Hotel is very close Excellent food and beautiful restaurant area.

The menu was limited but the food was Amazing, had the prawns and the aubergine tempura to start followed by the lamb and the salmon, both were delicious as well as the creme brulee which blew our minds.

The service was really friendly The food was generally good as was the service.

The inventive and detailed menu even expands to the cocktails, which are well worth a try alone.

The bar is stylish and comfortable but having had a sneak peek at the menu earlier in the day, I was pretty eager to get to the table.

The focus of Hide and Seed is most certainly their menu; every aspect of it is thought through in great detail with even their butter including a hint of lemon and chilli.

The menu was littered with unique and wonderful dishes such as ‘Crispy Pig’, a 22 hour cooked pig’s head with smoked jam and crispy pig’s ear.

There were a number of other unique choices on the menu which caught my eye as well, including seared mutton with fragrant pickled vegetables.
