Having ended up on Creation Records , which I took as a bit of a validation, I was keen to get as far away from all those "w" words that had followed my group around, and to make it as clear as I could that this was a rock & roll thing, not some "eccentricity".

In the last flickering days before Marriage and Acid House would change the world Kizzy and I hung out in his dealer's flat in Islington and WALKED to the studio in Waterloo everyday.

At one stage Kizzy arrived 56 hours late for a mix, having been held by the Police under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

David has this down right as a sort of self-justificatory thing.

Sonic Boom does good things on Susie (that's 4 of them big ballads at least, now), that was more the idea.

After watching Southbank Sinfonia play at St John’s Waterloo church, I stumbled upon Fishcotheque (a fish and chip restaurant, not a disco for fish) who serve deep fried mars bars in London (menu).

I have to admit, the deep fried mars bar might be one of my favourite desserts, it’s that good.

I won’t be making a habit of eating deep fried mars bars though – just think how many calories there would be in the deep fried mars bar alone never mind the vanilla ice cream!

And no, deep fried mars bars do not increase the risk of stroke, heart attack or death (please stop spouting silly lies Daily Mail).

This Waterloo Road fish and chip shop has been around for years - half a century, in fact.

The fish is fresh and not frozen, with the usual suspects fizzed in the fryer: cod, haddock, rock, plaice and scampi - plus the odd special.

They're available alongside saveloys, sausages, pies, Southern-fried chicken, burgers, omelettes, kebabs, onion rings, mushy peas, gherkins and pickled onions.

Apple pies, banana fritters, chocolate fudge cakes and banana splits make up a keenly priced dessert selection.
