World Animal Day 2017 | Quaker Animals UK

The wonderful Friends House Bookshop in central London once again hosted us on World Animal Day (falling in the middle of Quaker Week) with a specially-ordered range of animal titles for sale, plus the QAN/FWCC 2018 calendar (featuring beautiful artwork by our own Ann Johnson).

At the Quaker Centre Bookshop we always look forward to hosting Quaker Concern for Animals every year on World Animal day 4th October.

From animal rights to veganism, pets to service animals, there is so much to think and read about and many ways we can appreciate our fellow creatures.

Jenny McCarthy, Bookseller Friends House Having an all vegan menu on World Animal day has been a great success.

The success of this should allow us to incorporate more plant based dishes on the menu.

Quaker and Naturalist Too: a new NTF book | NontheistFriends.org

Quaker and Naturalist Too is about the practice of unity, and Quakerism and science from my perspective, and the history of this approach among Friends.

The book begins with a foreword by David Boulton in which he comments on my approach as a Quaker and a naturalist.

He suggests that the book is a personal exposition of one Friend’s point of view, as well as a handbook for Friends seeking reconciliation and a history of the development of Quaker nontheism.

The third section is a review of Friends’ writings that led to the Quaker nontheism of today, and a review of religious naturalism in the time of George Fox.

The book concludes with a glossary, a list of publications on Quaker nontheism, a bibliography of material about the forerunners of the Quaker nontheists of today, and over 200 source notes to assist you in further study.
