The shortrib on jalepeno cornbread (£9.50) was delicious, with just the right amount of spice in the British take on an American diner classic.

The Fried chicken, egg and croissant waffles (£12.00) , again managed to achieve fusion between American flavours and classic British ones – with tangy sausage gravy and an enormous helping of fried chicken.

The cocktail menu takes equal part in the Foxlow experience.

175g waxy potatoes, cut into matchsticks 1 carrot, sliced into matchsticks ½ savoy or Chinese cabbage, shredded 2tsp Kimchi chilli paste 1tbsp stevia or zylitol instead of sugar (optional) 2 eggs 2 slices of sourdough bread A little rapeseed or low-cal olive oil spray to cook the eggs Salt, pepper and chilli flakes to garnish Sliced spring onion to garnish Salt for the cabbage Salt the cabbage for 10-20 minutes, rinse well and dry.

Toast the sourdough and top with the slaw, the egg, spring onions and chilli flakes if you like.

Food will include all the classics, with slow-smoked pork ribs, five pepper Brixham squid, and fried Castlemead chicken all set to feature alongside the signature steaks.

And in an unexpected move, they’re also providing for the vegans, with dishes like sweet potato and tahini, and roast cauliflower with chickpeas and spinach.

They’ll also continue to cook up enviable brunches featuring their famous fried chicken croissant waffle and breakfast cocktails, as well as beef and chicken pot roasts on Sundays.

With soulful seasonal British food, BYOB nights and some of the best (and cheapest) cocktails this side of the Watford Gap, Foxlow is the local every Londoner wants on her doorstep.

Having won a loyal band of followers in different pockets of the city with thriving restaurants in Clerkenwell, Balham, Stoke Newington and Chiswick, Foxlow has forgone locality for centrality with a new restaurant in the middle of Soho.

Along with the favourite fried chicken with habanero vinegar and succulent steak cuts (all sourced from small British farms), there’s fresh fish and enticing vegan options.

So the selection of £6-7 cocktails at Foxlow is a breath of fresh air.

We can't wait to become regulars.

In a nutshell: Hawksmoor Spinoff comes to Soho Summing it all up: The people behind Hawksmoor are finally descending on Soho with their spinoff, Foxlow.

Expect steak, ribs, chicken and more... Having only just launched Hawksmoor in Borough, their team are at it again - getting ready to unveil their latest Foxlow in Soho, just off Golden Square.

It's a two-floor affair, with lots of counter seating upstairs around a U-shaped bar and apparently "an illuminated canopy inspired by the cinemas of the 1960s and 70s."

While the menu remains very much a meaty affair, there's a smattering of vegan options too: And on top of that, there's a daily brunch including their "Fried chicken, egg & croissant waffle" and a Sunday roast of either beef with all the trimmings or the new Chicken pot roast with cider braised turnips, parsnips & heritage carrots (that's it above).

Expect new drinks like Greenpoint (rye, vermouth, yellow chartreuse) and Shaquiri (Manzanilla, lime, Peychaud’s bitters) as well as Foxlow faves like the Miami Dolphin (strawberry-infused rum, lime, pina colada foam).

Mains are big and generally meaty, so there’s fried chicken, a Foxlow burger, or steak – it’s not one for the vegetarians.

The steak menu is short, featuring reasonably priced cuts such as hangar and flat iron, and there’s a selection of larger, sharing cuts on a blackboard menu.

Foxlow restaurants are owned by the Hawksmoor Group so that means cocktails are always excellent and fans of the steak restaurants will recognise some drinks from the menu, including the famous Shaky Pete’s Ginger Brew, a beer mug of gin, ginger, lemon and London Pride.

Starters and snacks at Foxlow range from £3 – £9, while main courses start at around £12, rising to £23 for a sirloin steak (larger sharing cuts are individually priced).

I am as big a fan of fat, salt and sugar as the next overindulged urban male, but even I have my limit.

There is not much chilli, but there is loads of salt and sugar and fat.

Even so, by this point I imagined my entire cardiovascular system had called a flash meeting in my bowel to discuss strike action over unreasonable employment practices.

But again it's a big hit of salt and sweet.

This place serves big fatty rillettes and pork ribs, beef short rib with salty kimchi, and anchovy and chilli butter.

Here’s something to celebrate: a new Foxlow – from the duo who founded Hawksmoor – has arrived in Soho.

A neighbourhood diner with a meat-focused menu, the vibe at this, Foxlow’s fourth London branch, is stylish and masculine – if a bit generic.

Basically, Foxlow Soho is the restaurant equivalent of a Topman model.

One of those moments was a lusciously soft and stringy side of mac ’n’ cheese with lovely breadcrumbs on top.

Foxlow’s a fine choice for a solid night out (and some sensational mac ’n’ cheese).
