For those like me who have never come across the Korean dish Bibimbap (pronounced Bi-Bim-Bap), it’s a mix of rice, meat and vegetables, a great way to use up leftovers.

Bibimbap also serve theirs in a it’s a ruddy hot bowl called a dolsot which is used to cook food – whilst being served at your table.

The tea isn’t very strong, but it is a good palette cleanser if you get a little to liberal with the miso and chilli sauce like I did… I didn’t just enjoy the food.

This dish (as did the other two bibimbaps) did not originally have a fried egg with them, but we added them on for an extra £1.

The only bibimbap to have an egg included is the dolsot bibimbap. When the bibimbap arrived, the bowl was sizzling hot like we hoped.

There was a very generous amount of beef and it was very flavourful, a perfect ratio of fillings, meat and rice :D  The bibimbap bowls kept the rice nice and hot throughout the meal which is very appreciated on a cold winter evening.

It is perfect winter comfort food, very filling, bool go gi bibimbaps are quickly becoming a favourite dish of mine!

Bibimbap is a brilliant beginners Korean restaurant as the menu is number coded for those shy of mispronouncing dishes and the dishes are fully described in the menu so you know what to expect.

Now you can find Korean restaurants scattered across London, serving everything from modern fusion to traditional hotpots, and from ornate soju cocktails to sticky deep-fried chicken wings.

Prices are low and the food's staggeringly good — with two (very long) separate menus of Korean and Japanese food it seems unlikely they're doing both of those well, but we challenge you to find a miss among all the hits.

There's usually a queue outside but zero sense of hustle to the service once you're seated, and though the menu's good across the board, the stand-outs are the On the Bun dishes — the spicy pork or bulgogi beef are perfectly sticky, the buns they're wrapped in, perfectly soft.

They're all about the rapid turnover at this Soho restaurant, so it's not a place for a drawn-out dinner — but it's hard to beat for a lunch break hit of KFC (Korean Fried Chicken).

This Woburn Place fast food joint specialises in Korean fried chicken, beer and bao, as well as K-Pop, with big screens playing the hits in the main restaurant, and a karaoke room in the back where you can belt one out yourself.

Bibimbap Soho review – cheap and mostly cheerful Korean food ...

That’s left the banner for cheap Korean food in Soho-Fitzrovia-Bloomsbury (ish) to be picked up by Bibimbap, a mini chain of Korean restaurants that’s seemingly appeared out of nowhere.

A bibimbap is a bowl of rice topped with various vegetables along with perhaps meat and/or egg.

The versions at Bibimbap are all dol sot bibimbaps, which means the food is served in a blazing hot stone bowl which cooks everything inside it.

If you’re in the mood for a meaty bibimbap, then you shouldn’t be surprised to see that cheap and rather dour, uncheerful bits of meat are the order of the day.

London’s recent ramen revolution appears to have passed Bibimbap by, with the chicken ramen resembling a by-the-numbers bowl of instant noodles rather than a dish crafted and honed through care and practice.

With the Korean flag hanging proudly at the window, it’s not hard to find; but a wait is inevitable as its popularity precedes its available tables.

The best Korean fare in central London, possibly: Bimbimbap with noodle, salad & rice.

There’s also a loyalty card system in place which will ensure repeat visits to one of the cheapest restaurants in Soho.

“One of the best korean restaurants that I have been to in London.

It is definately cheaper than most of the other korean restaurants in soho and they turn the orders around quite quickly which does help.

Ragam - London Restaurant Reviews | Hardens

this stalwart Indian near the Telecom Tower remains “first choice for genuine Keralan food” for many reporters, with “the crowning glory being when the bill arrives – £20 a head for grub this good should be impossible!”

But its ratings were hit by some unusually downbeat reports this year, saying it was “notably not as good”… “OK but no longer outstanding or destinational”.
