Las Iguanas Cocktail Deck, Old Spitalfields Market, London E1 6EW ...
drinks food menu staff
Las Iguanas in Old Spitalfields Market is amongst an array of other chains, but this branch boasts a little cocktail deck overlooking the market.
My friend Anna and I shared a few tapas dishes from the overwhelmingly long menu – which is a fusion of native Latin American Indian, Spanish, Portuguese and African influences.
The Cha Cha Chorizo Smoky pork & garlic chorizo, braised slow & lazy with onions in red wine, tomato & smoked jalapeño sauce £5.00 was great, tender and rich, satisfying when mopped up with the chunks of bread.
The longer cocktails were better, such as the Dark ’n Stormy™ Goslings rum & lime topped with fiery ginger beer £7.50 and the Cherry Fizz Cherry brandy, Plymouth gin, elderflower & lemonade with cranberry and lemon juices £6.20, which was like drinking a glass of liquidised Haribo (that’s a good thing).
Opening hours: Mon-Sat 10.30-22.30 (last food orders) Sun 10.30-19.30 (last food orders) Old Spitalfields Market closes at 23.00 daily, 20.00 Sundays Follow them on Twitter Like them on Facebook
Eating Out|| Bottomless Brunch at Asia de Cuba - Lashes of Lifestyle
menu food drinks staff
Super attentive, our waiter explained the menu and the three different brunch packages (we went for the middle priced option – starters, main, dessert and bottomless brunch cocktails) before leaving us to ponder in the knowledge of his recommendations.
Mostly pastries, of the fluffy and flaky variety – the tender, meaty chicken chicharrones were a firm favourite, as well as the crunchy spring rolls, with soft rich ropa vieja filling (beef and vegetables) – there was also a tender, juicy salmon ceviche in a delicious light sauce, and a portion of delicately cut plantain and malanga crisps, with a chunky black bean dip.
The Cuban Benedict, a Caribbean take on the eggs benny, was piled with tender and flavoursome pulled pork, perfectly poached eggs (the second stayed runny in the middle even though I didn’t slice into it until I’d eaten the first!)
A la dente brown rice cooked with rich pieces of duck confit, was served with fresh and juicy orange pieces, Thai basil, Thai Chilli and a poached duck egg on top, runny in the middle, to form a delicious combination of textures and rich and fresh flavours.
With brunch packages starting at £35pp (main course and bottomless brunch cocktails), and the option we went for priced at £45, it’s on the pricey side for bottomless brunches on the london food scene, however it’s totally worth forking out, especially if you have a special occasion coming up!

the venue was reborn as 100 Wardour Street, a dining, drink and live music destination.
The 100 is split across two floors – a lounge area on the ground for more casual drinks and all-day dining, while the grand basement space features the huge restaurant and club.
The mains available were mostly traditional British-European offerings, such as Roast Pork Belly, Confit Duck and Rigatoni.
Meanwhile, I had also been enjoying a saucily named cocktail ‘The Madame’ (Vodka, Lemon Juice, Apple Juice with Mint), which was refreshing with just the right amount of fruitiness.
Although my mains was OK, I really enjoyed my starter, dessert and cocktails.

BAM BOO Brunch | TT Liquor

Last Sunday we tucked in to a one-off boozy BAM BOO Brunch here at our multi-faceted Shoreditch establishment as we joined forces with the Bao bun powerhouse.
Their unique concept and love for buns took BAM BOO from market stall to Soho popup in just 3 months, and we were just as thrilled as they were to take on this new challenge – collaborating to create an exclusive food & drinks menu for their first ever brunch service.
A relaxed afternoon, featuring classic Asian flavours and fluffy steamed buns – not to mention our own punchy cocktail pairings, – was had by all who attended.
Guests started arriving from 1pm, where they were greeted with one of our bespoke welcome cocktails at the Lounge Bar.
Having given our expert bartenders their exclusive menu in advance, we worked closely with the chefs to curate three bespoke cocktail pairings designed to enhance the varied flavour combinations of each course.

Unfortunately all of us left with no doubt that our cocktails were watered down.
We were all in there for 2 hours.
Everyone had 4-6 cocktails each and none of us even felt tipsy when we left.
Normally three cocktails and I'm on my way, after four I want to eat everything I see, five and I need assistance getting the volume of food I want in my mouth but I had no appetite and that was after six cocktails!
It's a shame because I would have come again and recommended it to friends but even during happy hour I can't justify spending £30 on what we're very tasty but almost exclusively sugary drinks.
What to do This Weekend: 20th – 22nd October

What: Last Weekend to Try Why: Marylebone restaurant Carousel opens its kitchen doors to talented chefs from all corners of the globe to give diners a delicious culinary experience in a relaxed environment.
And this week’s residency is no disappointment – gracing the counters is Tom Brown, the chef who has retained a Michelin star as Head Chef at Outlaw’s at The Capital for two years running.
But there’s nothing criminal about the simple, delicate flavours of the seafood Tom serves, and his residency at Carousel will give guests an exclusive preview of the delights that await at Tom’s very own restaurant, set to open in Hackney Wick later this year.
Keeping close to his roots, the Cornwall boy will be doing what he does best – seafood – offering the likes of smoked haddock, leek and rarebit tart, and octopus braised in cider, bacon, apple and lentil dressing.
