Coqfighter Shoreditch

Coqfighter

Coqfighter is the love child of Troy Sawyer, Tristan Clough and Deacon Rose.

After arriving in London five years ago we were shocked to find fried chicken everywhere but life-changing fried chicken no where.

With this discovery our goal became simple, to create a fried chicken experience that melts minds and alters realities.

Having begun as a bare bones pop up in a pub in Hackney, the three of us have worked our arses off to grow Coqfighter to now having sites at Boxpark Shoreditch and Croydon.

Three young dudes just trying to do kick-arse fried chicken.

REVIEW: Coqfighter, Boxpark Shoreditch

Review analysis
food

Vodka-battered chicken wings, panko fried chicken burgers and piles of crunchy pickles so good they’re sure to ruffle the Colonel’s feathers.

Boxpark Shoreditch’s myriad food options lacked a posh chicken shop, until Coqfighter flew over from the Croydon branch.

BEST DISH: Burgers are a must (start with the towering Green Chilli Cheese, a panko-fried chicken thigh with pickled green chilli, American cheese, smokey chipotle & sriracha mayo) but pig out and grab some fluffy Bao buns, too – stacked with noodles, Szechuan mayo, coriander, pickled daikon and crispy panko thigh, they’re pillow-soft perfection.

Don’t overlook sides, either – fries are covered in dashi and smoked paprika salt, slaw doused in crunchy onion.

While you’re at it, get some wings to share – they come with an adorable little paintbrush to help you spread two tasty glazes exactly where you want them.

From the burger section: Green Chilli Cheese (£9) is the perfect size – big enough to look impressive but not so big you need a pitchfork and saw to eat it.

The panko fried thigh is both moist and crisp while the accompanying shredded iceberg lettuce and American cheese with chipotle mayo is a decent blend of light and heavy.

It’s nice to see bao buns on the menu, especially when they arrive all light and fluffy, sandwiching more of that panko crusted chicken.

The bird is free range and cooked twice giving it extra crunch.

I’d say Coqfighter is easily up there as some of the best fried chicken I’ve had.

Coqfighter enjoyed huge success as a pop-up eatery before their arrival at Boxpark Croydon and it seems that you guys love their food too.

Wings from your local chicken shop, wings from a number of popular fast food chains and even wings from a gourmet restaurant.

Their signature vodka-battered chicken wings are other-worldly.

Coqfighter offer up a choice of two burgers.

Fries are fries, they’re uncomplicated, they’re a hot snack and they’ve been known to alleviate hangovers but Coqfighter’s fries are a must have!

Since Coqfighter arrived at Boxpark Croydon the chicken game was changed forever.

Troy and brothers Deacon and Tristan moved to London, from Melbourne, to introduce 'life changing' chicken to the capital and, boy, did they succeed.

From killer vodka battered chicken wings to the seriously tantalising, Korean-inspired, panko fried chicken burger; this menu has everything a real chicken connoisseur could ever want.

From pop-up chicken shop to Boxpark Croydon, Coqfighter has now made the leap to Boxpark Shoreditch and they're excited to share their amazing menu with you...and we're certain you won't be disappointed.
