Merci Marie restaurant review - Foodepedia

food   ambience

Merci Marie operates as a canteen for the building’s staff through the week although others are welcome – lunches include chicken teriaki and rice for £6 or a gorgonzola, walnut and rocket sandwich.

Tonight was a Salt & Pepper themed evening where a variety of peppers and salts were used in the menu, first brought and shown to us by our charming waitress.

Sweet Fridays can take all kinds of hues and this theme just caught Marie’s fancy.

The black young pepper – long tubular structures – in the pumpkin veloute amuse bouche was powered and fragrant though the veloute was a bit watery – one of very few things under par on the menu.

Apart from the black Mexican salty butter that coloured the pork noisette with quince main, the salts were generally less distinct than the peppers.

food

Merci p}(‘0.6(” Marie is a restaurant tucked away in a building which houses studios and offices.

It’s all a bit industrial but the restaurant itself is simply decorated, a wash of whites and on a Friday evening it’s filled with candles – it’s all a bit romantic.

Friday is the only evening it’s open which means the seats fill up fast.

On the evening we visited we kicked off with a rich carrot and orange soup and beautifully presented seared scallops with sweet potato puree and vanilla butter.

Impress the date, your family or friends by taking them to Dalston’s most secret restaurant.

She serves breakfast and lunch from Monday to Friday and brunch on Sunday; lunch includes a small selection of salads or a dish of the day along with a menu of soups, sandwiches and quiches.

On Wednesday evenings in spring and summer, when the weather is good enough, they open the rooftop garden.

Friday evening ia 'Sweet Friday', open from 7pm 'til late' but only to those who book a table.

(And these are BYOB evenings.)
