The Warwick Castle

The Warwick Castle is a lovely local’s haunt set in the heart of Little Venice, welcoming visitors and neighbours to the area since 1867.

There is something for each customer to enjoy, whether it is a chilled glass of delicious wine enjoyed at our outside tables in the lovely mews of Warwick Place on a  sunny afternoon or stopping  for a pint and a bite in front of our open log fires on a winter’s evening we welcome you all.

Local places of interest include Abbey Road, Regents Canal and Little Venice canals.

Replacing the old Vietnamese restaurant at the Belgrave Road end of Churton Street, this is the new squid on the block.

My family and I have eaten there for years, and our secret is to have the delicious and large fillets of cod grilled unbattered, after a couple of plates of crispy whitebait as starters, with lots of tartare sauce.

In the cool, dark interior slatted shelves are packed to the ceiling with whole and partially-sliced blocks, some with a richly patinated natural or waxy skin, some sliced, the runny ones young enough that the outside remains firm for a day or two as you let it ripen at home, large triangles, solid wedges mottled with natural seams of blue, red, yellow and green.

Take your hosts a whole Vacherin with its uniquely scoopable soft interior – arguably the world’s most delicious cheese.

Try a wedge of Caerphilly, moist, solid, strong-flavoured, a gulf apart from the crumbly white mass-produced stuff; or slice into a small barrel-shaped truckle of Cheddar, in its dense waxy skin far bolder than the yellow rectangles on a supermarket shelf.

The Warwick is a lively bar in amongst the hustle and bustle of London's West End.

Split over two floors, The Warwick is divided between a main bar and the Crystal Lounge downstairs, both of which are decked out with dark panelled wooden flooring, comfortable booths and mahogany bar stools.

The lounge is open later for late night dancing, whilst the upstairs main bar caters more for casual drinkers and those looking to grab a bite to eat.

By 6pm, the bar was already busy with punters taking advantage of Happy Hour deals, and bartenders serving up a choice of cocktails, wines and beers.

Much of the food at The Warwick is made up of similar bar snacks and comfort foods, but their main menu does feature some larger dishes such as steak and red wine pie or chicken kiev, so it is certainly an option to head there for a main meal as well as a drink and a dance.
