Other new venues joining the Bib selections are: Alta Calidad, Bunker 2.0, ChouChou, Dumpling Galaxy, El Molcajete, Luzzo’s, Norma Gastronomia Siciliana, Patron, Pok Pok Ny (which once held a star), Tfor, and finally, 21 Greenpoint, an Italian-accented spot run by Bill Murray’s son, Homer.
If it ends up being upgraded next week, the Prospect Heights venue, which Sietsema awarded three stars, would only be the second New York Mexican spot to earn a star; the first is Casa Enrique in Long Island City.
A prominent criticism of the guide is that the starred selections tend to favor pricey American, European, and Japanese spots, while venues serving cuisines from Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, or the Caribbean are often relegated to the cheaper Bibs list.

The “cheap eats” version of the famous dining list describes 127 restaurants in the five boroughs, including 14 new spots this year.
This year, the number of new Bib Gourmands in New York equals the total number of Michelin-starred restaurants in Washington, D.C., in 2018.
Still, this number is smaller than last year’s New York Bib Gourmand list, which named 132 restaurants in its guide.
This year’s additions include some newcomers: Star chef Enrique Olvera notably didn’t get a Michelin star for Cosme, his New York restaurant, or Pujol, his scene-defining spot in Mexico City.
