Forza Win open Ragazzi in Mayfair - paninis, wine and cocktails all ...

If you're yet to head out to Forza Win in Peckham, they've also gone a bit central London for the summer.

They've just opened Ragazzi, a panini bar in Mayfair.

It's a change from the original Forza Win as there won't actually be any cooking involved (the former kitchen has been completely removed).

Instead, they'll be a panini, cocktail and wine bar.

And as it's just off Oxford Street it'll be a very handy respite from the summer crush there.

The actual reason I came up with the idea for Forza, though, was because pizza is a great thing to share and I’d worked in this awesome Italian restaurant as a kid, where everyone sat down to a big staff meal before service.

That and our staff – they are pretty much all mates of mine, or friends of friends who’ve come to work there over the years - not career restaurant people, so there is no pretence whatsoever.

Cheek-by-jowl dining experience with an Italian twist in a former warehouse.

Finding yourself sitting between a solicitor and a software developer may not sound like the best start to an evening, but at Forza Win you’ve got no choice: this place is all about communal eating, and that means sharing a table – and all the food on it – with whoever else happens to be there.

And the food is lovely: a bowl of whipped butter beans was difficult to put down, while a pile of pappardelle pasta topped with wild garlic flowers and a plate holding glistening slivers of steak were both delightful.

In fact, everyone did – the scarcity of food was all our table could talk about.

But placing a bunch of hungry strangers around a table and charging them each £35 for a few mouthfuls of food is just outrageous.
