Sun In Splendour in Notting Hill, London Pub Review and Details

You'll find a decent range of beers from both the UK and the continent, and a reasonable menu of modern British pub grub, priced for the area.

Anyone going to Portobello Road from Notting Hill tube will walk past this attractive looking pub, and as a result it suffers the consequences.

Should be a three pinter, but the crowds of tourists force us to downgrade it (sorry).

Though if you do follow the crowds in, do sneak a peak at the secret garden (which is where you'll find the smokers).

If the weekend queues are anything to go by then Granger & Co on Westbourne Grove could be the nation’s top breakfast and brunch spot, let alone Notting Hill’s.

Mike’s Café on Blenheim Crescent is a traditional caff offering a more wallet friendly and hefty-sized Full English, while Lowry & Baker on Portobello Road serves top notch Monmouth coffee along with simple morning food including their own mix of granola and eggs on sourdough.

For quick lunches there’s a small selection of street food — particularly Moroccan and Middle Eastern — on Portobello and Golborne Roads of a weekday and plenty of a weekend.

On-trend dining highlights include Pizza East and Electric Diner, which are both run by Soho House; the ever-popular Ottolenghi; and Venetian small plates restaurant Polpo on Notting Hill Gate.

The proudly kitsch and endlessly fun Trailer Happiness is one of the capital’s best places for tiki cocktails and rum (plus there’s Rum Kitchen if you want some more), whilst Negozia Classica at the intersection of Portobello Road and Westbourne Grove deals in excellent Italian wines and spritz The Arts Club on Notting Hill Gate is open until 2am most weekdays.

1852 pub with a curved frontage and the first (or last) of the Portobello Road watering-holes.

A cosy, quite small interior with elegant slender poles. The inn sign derives from the standard of the Yorkist Edward IV.

Triple winner of the Evening Standard pub of the year.

Currently has only a small range of real ales for an M&B Castle pub.
