Piccola Cucina - SLOAN! Magazine
food ambience menu
Having opened in October 2014, Piccola Cucina is a great little find in Notting Hill serving some of the best Sicilian seafood in London.
With such an established community of Italian restaurants in London, it is often hard to find the rubies amongst the dust and Piccola Cucina’s understated appearance and relaxed ambience means that any one of us could easily pass it by.
Piccola Cucina delivers one of the most authentic Sicilian menus in London with fresh food from Italy delivered daily to the restaurant to ensure true Italian flavours from the oil to the coffee, and the menu includes Sicilian, Italian and Mediterranean specialties including Tuna Tartare with Avocado; Grilled Involtino of Sicilian Swordfish; Pasta a la Norma with aubergine and tomatoes; Vermicelli with Mediterranean Lobster, and grilled meats.
The octopus was followed by Seabass in Lemon Sauce which was a vibrant citrus scented dish and Parmigiana with Black Aubergines which had an earthy flavour complimented by the sharpness of the parmesan on top.
Overall, Piccola Cucina is hidden haven of Sicilian yumminess and one we would definitely recommend searching out for some of the best authentic Italian food in London.
REVIEW: Piccola Cucina, Kensington Park Road, Notting Hill - The ...
location food busyness staff ambience desserts
Well hold your restaurant confirmations, because the new kid on the block, Piccola Cucina opened last week and is serving up some astonishingly fresh seafood at its new authentic Sicilian restaurant on the large stretch that is, Kensington Park Road.
Why every restaurant across London isn’t serving langoustine this way is beyond me – they’re missing a very clever trick.
First was this huge plate of linguine pasta coupled with sweet morsels of fresh blue lobster.
I’ve heard fishing for blue fin tuna is completely out of control in Italy and as much as I wanted to care for a cause – it was too good to agree on a ban which the rest of Europe have put to the country so many times.
Grilled delicately on the outside and very rare on the inside it really is the only way to cook tuna if you want to get a real taste of such an incredible fish.

Francesco guards the entrance to 186 Kensington Park Road waiting to greet his auspicious customers.
He has the demeanour of an Italian mamma, brimming with apposite patriotism for his native cuisine as he foists upon his fortunate diners pasta galore, tiramisu and all that is antithetical to abstinence.
As yet undiscovered by the glittering masses crowding the River Cafe to the West, Trullo to the North and Osteria Basilico across the road, this new restaurant offers all the indulgence but none of the table traffic of the best Italian restaurants in London.
Start with the elaborate Italian wine list.

Next time you’re wandering through Brighton’s famous Lanes, make sure you stop in at Food for Friends, a hotspot for vegetarian food that’s sure to satisfy anyone’s hunger, no matter what their eating habits are.
With over 30 years’ experience and copious amounts of praise, the award-winning Food for Friends is Brighton’s original vegetarian restaurant.
The depth of flavour, texture and heartiness of the food more than compensated for the lack of meat, which within 30 seconds of my starter touching my lips had become a distant memory.
It would be hard to go to Food for Friends and not have your mood instantly lifted, which makes it ideal for a first date in Brighton.
