Restaurant Review: Granger & Co King's Cross | The Soulmates Blog
ambience food
Situated in the recently redeveloped area of King’s Cross, which has a certain Sydney vibe to it on a sunny day (a location choice that’s perhaps a deliberate nod to where it all started for Bill Granger, the founder), the exterior bears the now-trademark look: large windows, lots of greenery and a general sense of refinement.
The interior is beautifully light and airy and from the moment we entered, the service was perfect; just the right degree of relaxed and unassuming.
The only very slight downside would be that the atmosphere was perhaps a little “stuffy” and formal for a first date, but if it’s your second date or more, it’s the perfect spot (luckily for us, we were years past any first-date considerations and were able to focus on the task at hand: eating).
Overall, if you’re looking for fresh, colourful and light food, I could not recommend Granger & Co highly enough for a Soulmates date – London needs more places like this.

Local couple Tara and Tom Olson are franchisees of the healthy eating restaurant, which is located in the old New Balance Store.
Let’s talk about the pair of entrees (didn’t eat them both in full, promise) I tried at a soft opening last week — chicken and waffle ($11) and raspberry chipotle short ribs ($13).
The Primal Kitchen staff will bring out your food and clear your table, so there’s an uptick from standard fast casual in terms of actual service.
Here are Primal Kitchen’s hours: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays.

Granger & Co is at the Notting Hill end of Westbourne Grove, an area that in the last couple of decades has gone from slightly rough to full-on trustafarian to total bankerisation.
Granger & Co is open all day, but they don't take bookings, which adds to the likelihood that you won't get a table without waiting or going at an unpopular time.
Granger is a pro, and this feels like a professional operation, though it's one delivering a kind of cooking that most interested amateur cooks will feel they can manage at home.
In some cases, they'll be cooking them from Granger's recipes, since he has published versions of his greatest hits, including his famous scrambled eggs (loads of cream added at the end, and miles too rich for me) and his ricotta hot cakes (sensational).
If Granger & Co weren't new, and he weren't on TV, there would be no queues; but it is, he is, and there are.
