San Gennaro

brilliant service, lovely staff, great food. The Best Italian Restaurant in London Battersea Park

San Gennaro Restaurant - Battersea Park London

San Gennaro Restaurant and traditional Neapolitan oven pizzeria.

Our Pizza dough is made daily using English Flour from an artisan mill.

The pizza is made from home made slow rising sourdough and is baked in a traditional Neapolitan pizza oven topped with the best ingredients on the market.

The buffalo mozzarella and the "fiordilatte" are the core of the Pizza and entree served in the restaurant.

The selection of home made pasta, salads, pizza and dessert are surely one of the most complete in London.

There is never any hint of anything other than complete confidence in the dishes on offer and there is always a quick, accurate understanding of the choices that will be most suited to each diner.

The meal started with steaming, delicate parcels of dim sum – prawn; prawn and pork; beef; and Shanghai pork and crab roe.

The main courses that followed were Szechuan spicy beef and aubergine; pork strips; Szechuan spicy prawns topped with soy minced pork and diced water chestnut sauce; stir fried fine green beans; and shredded potato with green peppers.

Chinese tea was served throughout – from the dim sum start to the  lychees on ice finish.

The dim sum were £8.50 to share and each main dish about the same.

We risked and we were rewarded with an authentic Italian at San Gennaro on Battersea Park Road.

No, you don’t recognise that logo, those colours are a mystery to you and when peering in at the staff you can see no uniforms… this friends, is an independent and the pizza will make you happy.Split across three levels - ranging from ground floor to mezzanine via a cosy platform tucked away at the back – San Gennaro is spacious enough to risk without making a booking.

The tiny dish of pasta was elegantly flavoured with pancetta and a butter sauce but minuscule portions in homely restaurants do not make a good match.

So we ordered pizza which was where it became clear that this is where San Gennaro thrives.

Home-cooking, great pizza and a relaxed, warm environment is what you’ll find in the independent and authentic San Gennaro.

Santa Maria Pizzeria • London – Traditional Neapolitan Pizza

Located in St.Mary’s Road, was natural to name our pizzeria Santa Maria.

Being Neapolitan (pizza was invented in Naples in 1889 from chef Raffaele Esposito, in honour of Queen Margherita, using tomato, mozzarella and basil to resemble the colours of the italian flag) and passionate about pizza, they thought that the borough of Ealing needed a traditional neapolitan pizzeria.

So, after working with their own hands on everything and importing the wood fired oven from Italy, Santa Maria Pizzeria finally opened its doors to the public on Valentine’s day 2010.

The pizza served in Santa Maria, is exactly the same as the pizza you can eat on the streets of Naples, using the same ingredients and adopting the same cooking method.

Santa Maria Pizzeria will be happy to feed everyone, from pennyless students to VIPs, with the authentic taste of Naples, according to the motto “Quality and quantity at honest prices”.
