ES News Email A New Cross Indian restaurant’s trade has been hit after a fake news story claimed it was selling human meat.

The story, which featured spelling mistakes, said: “Last night Indian restarant owner Rarjan Patel was arreasted for using human meat in his food recipes at his New Cross Restaurant, it is said that a total of 9 Human Body’s were found frozen ready to be processed for meat, Rarjan Patel remains in Custody for further questioning whilst the restaurant has been closed down.”

The agitated man was talked round after Ms Begum showed him where the story had come from, but she was left concerned what other members of the public might do.

Students misled media in university-backed 'fake news' project Ms Begum said she also received calls from people saying they wanted to order human meat.
