Levant
Levant Restaurant - Lebanese Restaurant in Oxford Circus
“We are a Lebanese and Middle-Eastern bar & restaurant serving authentic, home-style food made for sharing with family, friends and colleagues, suitable for every occasion.
We are very proud of the food we serve, it is drawn from the kind of food Lebanese mothers and grandmothers would happily cook at home for their children and grandchildren.
Levant is an authentic and fun restaurant, we believe eating out is much more than just great food, we offer a fun and relaxed atmosphere from the decor to the food and equally as importantly the warm hospitality and great entertainment”

As I entered Levant, which is tucked discreetly down a passage, away from the crowed urban metropolis outside, I arrived in a different world; a world of hypnotic music, heady fragrances, belly dancers, tea lights, sisha pipes and all things exotic.
From the vast selection on offer we tried Muhammarah, a dip, brick red in colour with a nutty flavour and a good coriander kick; Koossa bill tahina, a subtly flavoured fried courgette pure with tahini, lemon juice, garlic and mint; some crunchy fried cauliflower with mint and garlic; wonderfully authentic tabbuleh salad and Fatoosh, a Moorish mix of toasted pita, lettuce, tomato, parsley and mint, served up as a salad, not forgetting my favourite, succulent pastry cases filled with feta cheese and mint.
To drink, we tried an excellent Sauvignon Blanc from the Lebanon, its flintiness cutting through the flavours on the plate.
To follow, we tried some really good, sweetly spiced cinnamon quail that came served with broad beans and onions and some melt in the mouth lamb in a tomato and coriander sauce; however, even the latter was pipped at the post by the quail which was exceptional in its taste and flavours.
We also enjoyed some to die for pistachio ice cream, before strong coffee and refreshing but very sweet mint tea was expertly poured from a great height in the true tradition.

menu
Conveniently located between the hustle and bustle of St Christopher's Place and Marylebone High Street is Levant, a Lebanese/Middle Eastern restaurant and bar that combines its tasty cuisine with an exuberant entertainment package.
Decked out in deep reds and golds, guests perch themselves on cushioned sofas whilst they dine in a comfortable candle-lit atmosphere.
The menu is stocked full of Lebanese and Middle Eastern inspired dishes, brought to the table in a continuous flow in order to achieve an authentic Middle Eastern experience.
By day this West London retreat is a relaxing and comfortable restaurant, but this makes way for something a little more vibrant and energetic once the sun goes down.
Ideally suited to those who enjoy Lebanese-inspired cuisine, the Levant pulls out all the stops to ensure guests enjoy an authentic all round experience.

food
At a time when Middle Eastern cooking is enjoying a renaissance – served in bright modern venues and produced by kitchens doing interesting things with colour and flavour – there’s something endearingly archaic about Levant’s 1001 Nights aesthetic.
Falafel were excellent, creamy and crunchy and fresh from the hot oil, though tagines were let down by soggy couscous and a uniformity of flavour.
Nevertheless, bread arrives fresh and hot from the oven, like a scented pillow exuding hot air; it needs to be eaten quickly before cooling to a cardboard state.
Such details signify that Levant’s intentions are sound, and that it wants to show you a good time.
Restaurant Review: The Levant Lounge on Wigmore Street, London
The first time we had found the loud music and aggressive belly dancing rather off-putting, but arriving early in the evening (they serve food from 5 o’clock) we had the place to ourselves.
I was immediately struck by how this place reminded me of restaurants I had visited on the Arabian Peninsula, with its low light and opulent red and gold furnishings.
And, of course, what I always think of as Arabic pop music, although not too loud at this time of day.
