It's Getting Hot Up There | Mr Lyan's Hot-Tail bar, Il Tetto, Selfridges

Selfridges have launched the UK’s first dedicated Hot-Tail bar in collaboration with multi-award winning bartender, Ryan Chetiyawardana – better known as Mr Lyan and with a surname like that we’re not surprised.
This Hot-Tail bar can be found on the roof at Il Tetto‘s winter terrace – don’t worry, it’s heated (like the cocktails).
Il Tetto is the latest residency on the roof at Selfridge’s – a casual all day rustic affair with well sourced Italian ingredients and a menu created by head chef, Luca Terraneo (formerly of L’Anima) – you can check it out here.
Although Mr Lyan’s Hot-Tail menu features seven drinks inspired by Italian classics and they’re all terrific in their own right, although the Piedmont Cocoa (£12 or £6 without booze) was by far our favourite.
Mr Lyan’s version was certainly a much more refined compared to those we knocked back in the Venetian bars.

Des McDonald has worked closely with Head Chef Luca Terraneo, formerly of L’Anima, to create a menu of real Italian food, using well sourced, seasonal ingredients from across Italy.
The Terrace offers beautiful skyline views of London, and a private dining hut is available to those looking to escape the wintry chill.
Il Tetto is set to be the ultimate winter warming dining destination, the ideal venue to hideaway from the cold bustling London streets and enjoy warm, hearty Italian food.

And I don’t care if it’s in a department store, Il Tetto in Selfridges will make all your pasta dreams come true and here’s why: In their own words, Il Tetto is inspired by the traditional trattorias of Italy with good food, good wine and great views.
The food here is fresh, artisan and delicious; we were really, really impressed with the quality of the cooking at Il Tetto.
To start, we shared the Burrata with Modena balsamic vinegar, pickled radicchio, hazelnuts (because Alicia is a Burrata addict) which is light and delicious.
It’s undoubtedly moreish and totally delicious when enjoyed with their homemade rosemary focaccia with Umbrian olive oil.
This is some of the best pasta I’ve ever had in London; thick, rich, creamy filling of pumpkin, wrapped in soft pasta, covered in sticky sage butter with slices of fresh black truffle sitting proud atop.

You may be on London’s busiest streets, but Selfridges on Oxford Street is preparing to transport you to high in the Tuscan hills with the launch of their new rooftop restaurant Il Tetto.
Il Tetto opens today and will provide all-day dining in the style of a traditional trattoria.
Under the expert direction of Head Chef Luca Terraneo, who has come over from L’Anima, the menu will be made up of authentic Italian dishes, using well sourced, seasonal ingredients from across Italy.
He will be supported by world class team including Matthew Hayes, formerly Executive Pastry Chef for Corbin & King and now Executive Pastry Chef for the Des McDonald Group, which includes Il Tetto, and who will be in charge of the pastry section and afternoon tea.
The food on the plate will echo the surroundings, with Il Tetto painted in accents of Tuscan reds, burnt orange and olive green throughout and a liberal scattering of terracotta pots filled with herbs will complete the effect.
We Review Rooftop Restaurant: Il Tetto

Collaborating once more with renowned restaurateur, Des McDonald, Selfridges has opened their next rooftop restaurant, which this time is transporting diners to Italy, with a taste of traditional, rustic, neighbourhood restaurants.
Relatively, it opened at the start of October, as one of Selfridges’ changing rooftop restaurants, it will be there for a year-long residency.
You’ll find pizzas from traditional pizza ovens with DOP buffalo mozzarella; wild boar tortelli, braised pork cheeks with creamed polenta and gremolata.
The Look: Il Tetto, emulates the rustic, simplicity of an Italian restaurant.
At one end stands a bar and come the summer months the restaurant will be opened up to make the most of the its roof top setting, for now though there is a snug hut where you can host private dinners.
