Hot Newcomers - New Restaurant Openings | Hardens

There's definitely a new 'thing' in town - and it's a test kitchen.

Following in the footsteps of concepts like pop-ups and guest chefs, the more innovative chains are getting in on the act by dedicating branches to test out new menu ideas on the eager public.

It's genius - after all, if a dish 'doesn't work', it was only ever a trial anyway, and diners get the X-Factor style satisfaction of voting a dish into obscurity.

Wahaca's test kitchen opens in Shoreditch and will feature some of their classic dishes and drinks alongside the new ones.

Clasico Argentino — a new restaurant brand from Paris, specialising in empanadas and ice cream, has opened in central London.

Clasico Argentino was founded by two Argentinians; Enrique Zanoni, “multi-faceted entrepreneur and traveler,” and head chef Gaston Stivelmaher.

Enrique Zanoni and Gaston Stivelmaher Official Zanoni says that for many Argentinians, Europe is seen as “home,” and is excited to “bring back” a typical example of his country’s street food: “Londoners love to embrace food from around the world.

As well as empanadas, the restaurant will serve its own helados (ice cream) “using traditional production methods and natural ingredients such as real vanilla, fruit purees and whole milk.

A Clasico Argentino food truck based next to Gaucho in Broadgate in the City is also planned.

The brand already operates seven restaurants in Paris, and is opening its first London location next door to Gaucho's Piccadilly restaurant on Swallow Street, in the space that used to house its ice cream bar.

The brand will soon also have a street food truck stationed next to Gaucho’s Broadgate restaurant in the City.

Gaucho Group operates 14 sites in the UK under its eponymous core brand, and 23 under sister concept CAU.

The group's partnership with Clasico Argentino comes months after it was understood to be considering launching a new pub concept across a selection of Home Counties locations.

Gaucho founder Zeev Godik opened the first Gaucho restaurant in Piccadilly in 1994.

Tuck into empanadas and helados at Clasico Argentino in Mayfair ...

Summing it all up: After getting properly settled in Paris, Clasico Argentino has made the hop to London, bringing empanadas galore to their cosy Mayfair premises plus a food truck that’ll be parked near Broadgate and a doorstep near you via Deliveroo.

You may do if you've been to Paris recently, as that's where Clasico Argentino has their main bases - seven of them, in fact.

Over here, Clasico Argentino will be dishing up the traditional Argentinian stuffed pastry with all kinds of fillings, including meat, cheese and veg, before crimping them shut and baking them.

It'll be a cosy little affair with space for just 18 inside but Clasico Argentino will also be on Deliveroo if you're lucky enough to be within the radius as well as running a food truck near Gaucho in Broadgate.
