Created by Executive Chef, Alessandro Verdenelli, the menu will feature exclusive dishes created for Harrods including Alaskan crab, quinoa & avocado; homemade tagliatelle with Mazzara red prawns, fior di zucca, anchovies & stracciatella and halal slowly cooked lamb rump & Italian cicoria.

Dessert will be an indulgent affair, showcasing much-loved Italian classics as well as a carefully selected choice of wines and cocktails.

Seating 55 guests, Chucs Bar & Grill at Harrods encompasses both an elegant bar area, complete with Italian marble bar top and deep blue leather stools, in addition to sumptuous booth seating and tables with deep brown leather armchairs.

The interiors are designed to be reminiscent of a luxury yacht, with warm wooden panelling creating a comfortable yet stylish environment – a go-to destination for Harrods shoppers and local residents alike.

A spin-off from the yachtwear shop next door, Chucs is pitched at Mayfair's ultra-wealthy residents, who will happily spend £165 on a pair of lilac men’s swimshorts, or £150 on a women's long-sleeved t-shirt.

The interior continues the yacht theme with staff wearing nautical uniforms, right down to gold-braided epaulettes, while photographs of the picturesque port of Positano and other gilded holiday destinations adorn the walls.

Mayfair isn’t the place to come looking for a bargain meal of course, and Chucs is no exception, with an Italian and continental menu where a starter of grilled vegetables costs £15, or a main course of octopus salad weighs in at £29.

But there was no faulting our dishes: the Italian staff in the kitchen turned out a fine seafood tagliolini, studded with baby clams, tender octopus and freshly-made pasta.

Chucs is a likeable place, but given the size of our bill we had hoped for more efficient service; on our visit, the staff seemed to be barely coping with a not particularly busy lunch service.

At Chucs, food is served up in a beautifully lit, serene room that oozes 1950s Amalfi Coast cool (to say nothing of the garden courtyard, perfect for al fresco dining when summer comes around).

Staff are fawning, and if that’s your bag you’ll love the place.

and tagliatelle bolognese – were even deeper in flavour, achingly rich and lovingly prepared.

Chucs is a place for people who don’t mind spending top whack to eat terrific food and be treated like kings (and queens).

For those of you without a superyacht parked in the Med, come only with a rich aunt or an expense account.
