Glancing around on a Monday lunchtime at Osteria Dell'Angolo, a posh Italian in Westminster, the outlook is pretty bleak.
Luckily for people such as Claudio Pulze, who owns Osteria Dell'Angolo along with the nearby Al Duca, hope is at hand.
Osteria Dell'Angolo opened in February last year and, after an initial hiccup in which head chef Michele Brogi departed, has established itself as a "power restaurant".

Al Duca, set in London's Piccadilly opened in 1999 as part of the Pulze's 'Cuisine Collection' restaurant group, Al Duca's offers fine Italian food that has earned it a legion of loyal diners.
The restaurant itself uses traditional Italian colours to evoke a warm and inviting feel; terracotta, olive and stone along with oak timber and mosaic tiling are used to great effect.
The menu at Al Duca emphasises the use of simple fresh ingredients skilfully combined to bring out the best of a wide range of traditional dishes offered both in classic style and with a new twist, all following Pulze's ethos to offer reasonably priced good Italian food.
