The Dorset Square Hotel Review: A Luxury Hotel in Marylebone

This something new was a townhouse hotel across from a leafy garden square (site of Thomas Lord’s first cricket game) with new streets to discover.
The Dorset Square Hotel is an easy fifteen minute walk to Oxford Street shopping with Selfridge’s an easy find (love their Food Hall).
The first floor front windows look out to the garden square and have the front desk and small lobby in one room while the Drawing Room with Fireplace and Honesty Bar occupies the other small room.
The luxury townhouse hotel has 38 individually designed rooms in six categories which includes single rooms with twin bed (107 sq. ft.).
It was a quick two nights at The Dorset Square Hotel in Marylebone but just like the other Firmdale Hotels in London, I was a fan immediately.

Another firm favorite from hotelier Kit Kemp’s empire of chic London boutique hotels, Dorset Square Hotel is all scaled down luxury and quirky design.
The signature modern English Kit Kemp style is evident throughout the individually designed rooms, which feature bold patterned headboards, statement prints and bright, mismatched colors.
Instead, the hotel’s Drawing Room provides a sophisticated spot to relax on a cozy armchair in front of the log fire, while admiring the cricketing memorabilia on display.
Unlike some of the Firmdale Group’s townhouse hotels, Dorset Square has a fully functioning restaurant.
When you’re done with dining, stay where you are because the Potting Shed doubles as the hotel’s bar.

London is a terrific place to bring children all year round - plentiful public transport, heaps of things to do and see, (mostly) helpful locals, organised facilities and amenities.
She also received a welcome pack of a princess drawing book and coloured pencils, which kept her happy with the babysitter while we enjoyed a delightful dinner in The Potting Shed.
The 2 biggest rooms - Dorset Square and Marylebone - are more like junior suites in layout, and good for families with more than one child as they have space for a cot and have a sofabed.
All Deluxe rooms can fit an extra bed or a cot; all Luxury rooms can have a cot added.
There are adjacent rooms which can be taken together for larger family groups but do not interconnect as such - there's a Single (Room 107) and a Luxury (Room 108) off a landing which can create a family only space when the outer door is closed.
RESTAURANT REVIEW: BOTTOMLESS BRUNCH AT THE ...
food menu drinks busyness
The Potting Shed seems to have taken the extended metaphor very literally, digging its roots down a floor below London’s ground level, and lining every available wall with pots, plants and whispers of fresh produce.
With complimentary fresh bread, constant topping up of glasses and a wait staff eager to please, there is a real sense of hospitality and generosity here that some other brunch places (with such emphasis on turning tables) could learn from.
We choose to go for a couple of green dishes – peas and burrata is seasonal and fresh, with the creaminess of the milky delight bringing a sense richness and glutton to an otherwise light plate.
We particularly enjoyed the fresh green vegetables with burrata, which seemed to encompass the philosophy of the place most fittingly – fresh, clean, seasonal flavours with just a hint of indulgence.
For something just a little different, in a brunch field so crowded it’s tough to know where to start, for those craving something light but fulfilling, The Potting Shed ticks all the boxes.

Dorset Square, just off London’s Baker Street, is the site of Thomas Lord’s first cricket ground.
The Potting Shed bar and restaurant are open all day and offer a tasty and varied menu, with a skylight opening up onto the pedestrians and buses buzzing by down Baker Street.
The other great thing about the hotel is its location on the edge of Regents Park.
But if you are a gym junkie, Dorset Square Hotel not only has access to a nearby fitness centre but is also situated right beside London’s most beautiful oasis of flowery tranquility.
I’m still not converted to cricket but the hotel not only bowled me over, it offered many innings and fabulous outings.
