One of the best in South London Chinese restaurant in Streatham High Road SW16 6EG (just down from St Leonard's Church), Rice Republic is certainly a dinky spot. The skinny dining room stretches back from the road, and is kitted out with swooping lights housed in birdcages, slats of wood, Chinese ornamentation and a large map of China sketched on one wall. Dishes range from spicy chicken in black bean sauce, crispy fried shredded chicken, chicken in satay sauce and sliced beef with ginger and spring onion to roast duck Cantonese style, whole lobster with salt, pepper, spring onion and chilli, and steamed whole fish in spicy black bean sauce. Dim sum also features, with siu mai, dumplings and steamed buns all on offer.
