Pizzeria Mamma Mia

Pizza Mamma Mia – Traditional Italian Pizzeria Tel: 020 3302 6364

“Great food in unexpected location” I love Mamma Mia, my friend and I go almost weekly and we are never dissatisfied (and this comes form an Italian, born and bred).

The pasta dishes are very nice, but the pizza is definitely Mamma Mia's forte (and much easier to digest than those of the over-hyped Zia Lucia).

The owners are also very nice and often offer off-the menu seasonal specials.

The restaurant is small and cosy, it does have a real feel of an Italian trattoria.

When the weather is nice it is also very pleasant to sit outside in the sunshine.

Pizzeria Mamma Mia of Bedford

Mama Mia's, Bedford, 36 St. Peters St

Mama Mia's was founded by Bruno Zanna 27 years ago, and first opened in Bedford back in 1985.

After working for Valerio's Olympia group for 10 years, delivering food to restaurants all over the country, Bruno became accustomed to the way a restaurant should be managed.

So Bruno and a very close friend, who also worked at Valerio's, decided to go into the restaurant business together, opening Mamma Mia's Restaurant number 1 in Oxford in 1982.

A few years down the line and lots of support from family and friends, Bruno and his family ventured on their own opening Mamma Mia's restaurant in Bedford in 1985.

Review analysis
food   ambience

A spot of pre-theatre dinner led me to Mamma Mia on the South Parade in Summertown.

This was also a necessity, due to the popularity of Mamma Mia, which gave the restaurant a breezy, bustling atmosphere that the staff were just about able to manage.

The menu has several pizza and pasta options and we agreed to try one of each.

But with such promising items as profiteroles and a chocolate orange bombe (orange ice cream 'enrobed' in Belgian chocolate) surely a return visit to Mamma Mia must happen.

The food at Mamma Mia is outstanding, and it is a very good example of Italian food in .
