Bourne and Hollingsworth - East London Girl

I obviously opted for the bottomless brunch – bring on the bellini’s :).

There was also the option of bottomless Bloody Mary or another tequilla based cocktail (no thank you!)

With only around 30 covers, Hacon has a small neighbourhood feel where you can spend a few hours chilling out.

The USP of Hacon for me was the live music on a Saturday night with a local East Londoner, James Tashario, playing with his band in three different sets from 8.30pm.

Hacon has a few of its “own cocktails” and all the classics.

Given we were quite peckish we also ordered the Patatas Bravas with spicy tomato sauce,  Grilled Padron Pepppers, Chicken Skewer, Calamari and the Shrimps Skillet with garlic and chilli with flatbread – the sauce was amazing!

Very friendly staff at Hacon, great cocktails and small plates and, best of all, live music on a Saturday!

La Ventana is a brand new tapas restaurant in the heart of Dalston Square.

What a fantastic menu – La Ventana has all the classics as well as some more unusual dishes.

we ordered the Lubina A La Plancha – grilled sea bass filler served with asparagus risotto and a balsamic glaze – not a dish I normally see on a menu and it was delicious.

The Bombas, deep fried potato balls filled with beef mince, onion, garlic, chilli and herbs served with ali oli and brava sauce, another dish that I don’t see very often on tapas menus – they were absolutely huge and filling!

Some more traditional dishes we had were the Chipirones, crispy fried baby squid served ali oil sauce, choi-sum salad and lemon zest (I prefer it when the squid is a little crispier and the sauce is separate but that is just personal preference), the Grilled Chorizo sautéed with baby onion, choi-sum and thyme, which was fantastic and the Croquetas De Jamon, always a firm favourite of mine.
