A French Brunch at Les Nénettes, London – cheriecity.co.uk

Just a short walk from where I live in Hackney is Les Nénettes, a little gem of a French bistro and terrace that only opened just over a month ago.

The menu is quite varied, with a big focus on eggs, and you can choose between brunch and lunch dishes up until 5pm.

Steven’s Croque Madame was exemplary with slices of rustic white bread, juicy ham, nutty Gruyère cheese, béchamel spiked with a bit of nutmeg (the magic ingredient) and a soft fried egg on the top.

The eggs were perfectly poached with bright orange yolks and were accompanied by thick slices high quality roast ham, golden toasted English muffins and a tangy, velvety Hollandaise sauce.

Les Nénettes is great spot in Clapton for affordable, delicious French dishes in a cosy, relaxed setting.

Feast is the NEW grown up and developed version of the old street food and restaurant experience Little Feast, and the sister site to Feast Canteen in Hammersmith.

The space is set to become a new kind of restaurant and bar hybrid for West London and beyond to enjoy.

First up in this exciting series of six-month residencies are Mexican taco dudes Del 74, and Hackney comfort food kings Morty & Bob’s.

Especially for Feast, both restaurants will create bespoke all-day menus including hearty Mexican sandwiches and juicy tacos from Del74, as well as epic grilled cheese sandwiches and wholesome salads from Morty & Bobs.

And rest assured, whether you like your meals meaty, veggie, vegan or free-from everything except epic flavour, these street food-inspired maestros have got you covered.

We are looking for an ambitious assistant manager  to join our small team & help with our continued growth.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and dedicated assistant manager with the right skills and experience to join a beautiful neighbourhood restaurant that is run by a committed owner who is passionate about French food and wine.

The style is friendly, relaxed and informal, but we are serious about our food and wine and taking very good care of our customers.

If the following sounds like you, then we want to meet you : At least 1 years experience as an assistant manager   in a similar restaurant environment.

A good knowledge of French food and wine and the desire to learn more.

When I walked into Les Nénettes, a new French restaurant on Lower Clapton Road, it was a balmy evening, and seeing my friend drinking one, I immediately ordered a gin and tonic.

I shortly realised that there was a far more interesting menu of French apéritifs – but the story of the evening, it turns out, was that Nénettes’ tantalising menu demands more than a single visit.

However this came with a ramekin of soft unsalted butter: thick, creamy, like an organic butter with the taste dial turned way up.

I was so absorbed by my pudding that I paid little attention to what my dining companion was saying, but I believe she was happy with her chocolate enrobed poached pear.

I remember some time ago describing the now defunct restaurant Verden as being out of place in Clapton, and in retrospect, I pondered why I did not feel the same about the equivalently pricey Nénettes (does the mineral water really need to be French, and £4?)
