Brioche Burger - New Menu (Part 1) - West Ham - Feed the Lion

Not only have they revamped their menu to include an array of new and exciting dishes, including both a Wagyu burger and a steak, but also recently managed to open a second branch in Walthamstow.

Not only did it have everything you’d want from a burger vis–à–vis harmony of flavours and textures, but also a succulently juicy patty, and a perfectly toasted bun.

Combine that with the crispy cabbage, sweey relish base with just the slightest hint of heat to it, the smooth red pepper mayo, and a mountain of egg yolk curls sprinkled with crumbs of earthy cum sour dried olives, and what we had here was a burger positively singing the harmonious notes of perfection one would hear from Berlin’s Philharmonic Orchestra performing Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 2.

The marriage between the vinegary tartness of the black olive tapenade and the subtly sweet red pepper mayo coupled with the sharp tangy hit of the confit tomatoes was superb.

From the cubes of soft tofu and ultra crispy sweet potatoes, to the endless notes of sweet and sour, what we had here was the fresh and palate-cleansing taste of avacado and tofu cream, the sweetness of a red (beetroot?)

Not only have they revamped their menu to include an array of new and exciting dishes, including both a Wagyu burger and a steak, but also recently managed to open a second branch in Walthamstow.

Hence, this review will be of two parts: Part 1 – A separate review that sees FtL return to the original branch in Green Street to try a variety of new menu additions including a Wagyu burger.

Part 2 – A review of their Walthamstow branch in this article where we sampled their Wagyu steaks.

The difference between Brioche Burger’s original branch in West Ham’s East Shopping Centre on Green Street, and their recently opened second at the bottom of Hoe Street in Walthamstow, is such that if you were to pay a cursory glance at the outside of the latter’s shop front, you’d probably think it’s nothing more than a posh cafe or a glorified kebab shop.

And so here’s what all the fuss was about: 10oz Wagyu Rump Steaks, something, it has to be said, we were very much looking forward to particularly after the extreme highs enjoyed over in Green Street that including the unbelievably tasty Wagyu burger – The Super Saiyan.

Food was tasty and original.

Good choice of burgers with some original titles such as "the fresh Prince".

The price was good and we had a great time.

There’s hardly a more perfect food than the humble burger.

Quality and flavour don’t always go hand and hand when it comes to burgers, but at Brioche Burger in Walthamstow, things are different.

The Walthamstow location of Brioche Burger on Hoe Street is just moments away from Upton Park underground station, so there’s nothing holding you back from making your way over to this legendary burger joint for lunch or dinner.

We can highly recommend the Super Saiyan, six ounces of beef topped with monterey jack cheese, pepper relish, cabbage, egg yolk curls, olive dust and red pepper mayo (all in between two brioche buns), their rib eye steak or their veg-friendly Roger Rabbit, a spinach and mozzarella burger that’s simply on another level.

There’s a whole lot more where that came from, so do make sure to book a table ahead of time to see why Brioche Burger is such a big deal in London.
