We heard there was a jumpin’ joint called Primo at the Park Plaza Hotel near Westminster, south of the river from where The Man makes his rules in that Big Ol’ Ben.

Straight up we could tell this was a classy place – the Park Plaza entrance is opposite them Houses of Parliament, and we had to drag our instruments up a whole mess of stairs before we got to the shiny, colourful wall that closed off the Primo restaurant.

And don’t be gettin’ me wrong, Primo is one swanky establishment: first off, there’s a very tasteful open-plan area with low-down leather chairs, and a whole lotta high-falutin’ sculpture and pot plants; then you got the bar, all black surfaces and low lightin’; and then there’s the live music lounge, where the real magic happens.

Speakin’ of drinks, I will say that Primo has itself a fine line in cocktails and wine and whatnot – Thumper, he was ossified on them strong Watermelon Martinis by the end of the night, while I did happen to favour the Green Dalmatia, with all the flavour and savour of a grape and litchi glacier, amen.

Let me lay it on you straight: as a regular hotel bar and restaurant, Primo is pretty damn swell, and a good place to kick back and relax after a hard day slavin’ over a hot trombone.

Now, the talented gentleman brings his wealth of expertise to London’s Primo Bar as both Artistic Director and Executive Host, heading up an evening destination that is fast becoming one of the South Bank’s best-kept secrets – and one which also happens to have one of the very best views.

Nestled in the heart of one of London’s most visited tourist areas, Primo Bar sits just a stone’s-throw away from the likes of the London Eye, Big Ben and the houses of parliament, with stunning views of the attractions and river on offer while you relax with your favourite tipple.

Exotic cocktails, elegant design and free live music every night of the week make Primo Bar one of London’s most exciting for a great night out, and guests have the opportunity to reserve seats in the exclusive VIP area or enjoy a drink in the stylish lounge to make for a really special night.

Located at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London, the bar makes a welcome addition to the plush surroundings of the luxury hotel, and it’s lively and atmospheric ambiance sees guests and outsiders alike propping up the bar into the early hours as they take in some of the most enjoyable acts the capital has to offer.

Before joining Primo Bar, Didier hosted celebrity parties, galas and corporate events at clubs across Ibiza, Barcelona, Tel-Aviv and Paris, so suffice it to say he knows how to put on a good show.
