Steakhouse & Bar Kings Cross | Bar + Block
The classic ‘Loin’ cut, Sirloin is taken from the upper middle of the cattle.
This region isn’t naturally overworked and has a covering layer of fat, so remains beautifully tender.
Sirloin is known to be an ‘all-rounder’, cooking well from rare through to well done.
We do however recommend it be cooked medium so the fat melts through the meat.

Bar + Block Steakhouse, King's Cross
food location
During my recent invited visit, I had a satisfying lunch and found the York Way restaurant (at the base of the Premier Inn hotel just up the street from King’s Cross Station) to be an ideal place for a broad range of reasons to get off your feet.
More because I just had to see than I needed to eat it, a Churro Sundae dessert (churros coated in cinnamon sugar, served with vanilla ice cream, lemon curd, clotted cream, crunchy biscuit bites and meringue, £5.95) proved a fun way to end my meal.
After my meal I pulled out my Macbook and stayed on to do a spot work over a double espresso (one bummer about the experience: coffee was Costa, so quality was just so-so).
If you’re in the King’s Cross area, hankering for a steak or some nibbles (plenty of veggie and non-steak options) – or simply a spot to relax or catch up on some work, Bar + Block is a wise choice.
Bar + Block is located at 26-30 York Way, N1 9AA (with locations in Birmingham and Whitely).

food
This new restaurant serves various food but their speciality is steak.
You could kick start your day with a steak and eggs or even enjoy a steak anytime throughout the day.
All steaks hand cut to a size that also matches your appetite and with so many different cuts.
It recommend by chefs that you have your steak cooked medium rare to get the best flavour out of the steak and tenderness.
Thanks to Bar + Block who let two of us from the community of Love Pop Ups London come down to sample some delicious tender steaks.

A delicately prepared 10oz, spiral cut sirloin appeared with peppercorn sauce and those beef dripping chips, shortly followed by a 14oz Tira De Ancho rump steak with chimichurri sauce.
The steaks, which were cooked to perfection we might add, were accompanied with mac & cheese bites and garlic spinach.
A perfect starter which set us up for the main event: the steaks.
Quickly came the sticky toffee pudding, a British classic with a South American twist of honeycomb ice cream being partnered with the pudding.
These guys definitely aren’t a chip off the old block when it comes to serious steaks.

Upon arrival, we were shown to a little booth, I thought it was a lovely touch that they bring you a bottle of water and some beef flavoured popcorn which is complimentary while you decide what to order.
There is a huge variety to choose from on the menu, it was very difficult to choose but for a starter we chose a Ploughman’s sharing block for me this was the highlight of our meal it comes with a Scotch egg cut in half two sausage rolls, cheese, pickle, lightly toasted bread and two different types of beef.
The portion sizes were very generous with plenty for the two of us, and you could tell the food was freshly cooked using quality ingredients as there was just so much flavour.
This came with lovely chunky chips done in beef dripping, the beef we were told comes from English breeds that are kept over in America, we wondered whether it was the different grazing or maybe it was just the way it was cooked but my other half said it was superb.
My partner choosing the churros sundae with lemon curd and clotted cream with every bit been eaten, it was the perfect way to finish off a lovely meal.
Restaurant Review - Bar + Block Steakhouse, King's Cross

Part of Whitebread PLC, owners of Premier Inn and Costa Coffee, Bar + Block Steakhouse on York Way is one of these restaurants.
One of three locations under the Bar + Block umbrella, it promises an ‘all-day dining experience’ of ‘high-quality steaks at high-street prices’; the focus being on quick, good food at affordable prices.
The mini meatballs are a mix of beef and pork mince, with a (supposedly) spicy tomato sauce, fresh basil and parmesan, served with a toasted ciabatta.
For our mains, we decide to follow the advice we’ve been given and select the Butcher’s Block and the 8oz rib eye (£16.50), served medium-rare with a peppercorn sauce (£1.50) and chunky chips cooked in beef dripping (£3.25).
Bar + Block King’s Cross can be found at 26-30 York Way, London, N1 9AA.
