Rusty Bike Cafe Hornsey Road

Rusty Bike Cafe Hornsey Road

At Rusty Bike Thai Cafe, we offer our best Thai dishes.

Rustybike Kitchen | Thai kitchen on Balls Pond Road N19 North of London near Dalston Kingsland, Dalston Junction and Canonbury

We are a group of classical bicycle and Thai food lovers.

After long cycling, we normally have Thai food for top up our energy level and bring us liveliness.

Therefore, we decided to start our Thai Restaurant with bicycle declaration for our friends and those who love Thai cuisine.

All trips to London start with a tea from Gourmet on Platform1, Stoke Station.

Here are a few sketches which I made around the Hornsey Road which runs parallel to Holloway Road, drawn over several visits.

On my way to the Hornsey Road, I walked past Royal Northern Gardens, a park created in 2002 on Manor Gardens.

They are now part of the memorial wall and used as planters.

it turns out that this was once home of The Blenheim Arms, 395 Hornsey Road.

But Drummond Street, just a few minutes’ stroll from the station, is home to what is probably the capital’s most diverse range of South Asian food.

But it’s not all kebabs and karahi gosht here: there’s enough on Drummond Street to suit even the most spice-averse of palates.

Drummond Street is set to be a casualty of the HS2 railway linking London to Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester.

Half the street could be used as a temporary taxi rank and local businesses face demolition from January 2018, despite the efforts of the Save Drummond Street group.

The campaign continues, but the best time to drop in and try London’s best mango lassis is now, before noise, dust and uncertainty sweep the street.

That’s why a jaunt down Northcote Road is good for the soul.

A couple of times per month, I run from my home in Colliers Wood (aka Collywood) to Battersea to visit the independent businesses of Northcote Road.

Despite a good few chain restaurants and bars creeping in, it’s a rarity to find so many indies on one street in London these days.

Some have been there for well over 30 years, and I love speaking to the owners: they’ll tell you fascinating stories and reveal knowledge that you’d never find on Google, and most of the time they’re genuinely happy to stop and have a good old chat.

So I urge you: pay a visit to Northcote Road and give the independents your support.
