Hotel & Restaurant Review: The Stafford Hotel and The Game Bird ...

It is contemporary and effortlessly encapsulates English style throughout the living space, bedroom and en suite bathroom and boasts a bed that you would expect from a hotel of this calibre: easy to get into, harder to get out of!

Aside from submerging ourselves within The Stafford Hotel’s suite, I was also eager to spend the evening at its award-winning restaurant: The Game Bird.

Informal (as much as you would expect from a five-star hotel) – The Game Bird’s ethos is to serve diners the great taste of the finest British comfort food, executed with style and panache.

We slide into one corner of this relaxed but refined space within the centre point of The Stafford Hotel and quickly the exuberant sommelier familiarises us with a Chilean 2014 Escudo Rojo which is is as smooth as it sounds.

Concealed from the hysteria of Green Park and Piccadilly, The Stafford Hotel and its Game Bird restaurant champion London’s hospitality scene.

After the Ball at Upstairs at the Gatehouse | Theatre review 100 years ago, the United Kingdom fought side by side with other European countries in one of the most violent and irrational global turmoils of all time.

The First World War marked the future of soldiers and their families – not only in terms of military involvement but also with regards to the personal and social choices of the people in the trenches and at home.

After the Ball – by Ian Grant – delves into the memories and ripple effects of the actions of one couple, exploring their sentiments and affections – both towards their country and towards each other.

William (Stuart Fox) and Blanche (Julia Watson) get married soon after meeting for the first time at a ball.

However weak she appears upon first entering the stage, the woman is indeed the strongest of the group, sacrificing herself for the sake of her family and holding onto her values of loyalty and peace – despite the betrayal and lack of care from her relatives.

The Gatehouse | Bars and pubs in Highgate, London

Tucked under a quirky fringe theatre, The Gatehouse is an independent Highgate pub that reopened in March 2016.

The menu, designed by head chef Chris Payne, is a bit of a fiesta, with a strong focus on all things Spanish, including tapas dishes such as Padrón peppers, Ibérico ham and an array of paellas.

If you’re after traditional pub grub, don’t fear, beer battered cod also features alongside steak or chicken pie to share.

Oak panels and comfortable décor give The Gatehouse an air of somewhere you’d want to collapse for a while, with an extensive wine list and a decent array of beers and lagers on tap as well as an outdoor sun trap, nestle in for pint or two.
