Review: Delicious By Franco, Kentish Town Road | Kentishtowner

Review analysis
food

A casual visitor to NW5 may miss the fact that there are two excellent Sardinian restaurants (Pane Vino and Nuraghe), a Neapolitan trattoria (Rossella), several pizza and pasta outlets, and, perhaps most hidden of all, a tiny Venetian bacaro.

Delicious by Franco opened three years ago as a simple cafe, and in 2011 was revamped into Kentish Town’s most bijou dining room.

The family come from Caorle, a coastal town in the province of Venice, and dotted around the walls are pictures from the area, including black and white images of the fishermen’s huts where Hemingway found inspiration for his last novel ‘Across the River and into The Trees.’

We started with conchiglia di mare (main pic), a simple plate of large king prawns and mussels served on home made thyme bread with a delicious sauce made from garlic and, said the head chef after the meal, ‘something I can’t tell you’.

This was an exercise in balance, the chargrilled flesh in smooth buttery prosecco sauce perfectly complemented by very bitter red radiccho de Treviso.

food

Situated on the corner of Great Titchfield Street and Clipstone Street in London’s Fitzrovia, Conchiglia offers Italian cuisine as it’s supposed to be: simple, exceptionally fresh and served by a friendly staff who truly care about their guests.

At Conchiglia, guests are treated to an impressive wine list that perfectly accompanies their selection of delicious Italian dishes on offer.

Sit outside and relax in the restaurant’s outdoor dining area and relax as you enjoy starters like prosciutto e melone (Parma ham with melon), cozze alle provinciale (mussels cooked in tomato sauce and herbs) or the restaurant’s famous caesar salad.

Eating the pasta is essential, so be sure to order spaghetti alle vongole (pasta with clams, cherry tomatoes, and garlic in a white wine sauce) or the tortellini aurora con funghi (spinach and ricotta tortellini cooked with mushrooms and tomatoes in a cream sauce) before moving on to the restaurant’s rotating selection of desserts.

Located in London’s trendy Fitzrovia, Conchiglia offers gourmet Italian cuisine at reasonable prices – book early to secure a table.

Zaza Bushey is nestled neatly in the middle of Bushey High Street.

With its timeless design incorporating wood panelling and exposed brick this fantastic looking restaurant successfully achieves a plush yet minimalist look with a stylish and cosy feel.

The restaurant additionally boasts two outdoor dining areas with a courtyard at the front and a large back garden that easily accommodates up to 80 people.

The garden boasts stylish rattan furniture adorning the large patio area where many of the tables offer shade with large stylish parasols with heaters to keep customers warm when the summer evenings cool down.
