This pub was editorially chosen for inclusion by Londonist, and was nominated as one of the best pubs in Outer London.

We like this place so much that we nominated it among our 10 favourite in London back in 2011, in this here Guardian article.

It's a pub of many parts.

Then, through the doors, you find a large and dimly lit hall, kitted out for mass crowds to watch the sport (or play on the pool table and pinball).

Dozens of tables pack the punters in, but it was full to capacity by 6pm on our most recent visit.

The Faltering Fullback Finsbury Park | London Pub Reviews ...

The Faltering Fullback is a leafy Irish pub in North London.

With four very different areas, this well hidden gem is a rambling pub full of nooks and crannies and is a great neighbourhood local.

From the extensive and green beer garden, to the raucous pool table room, to the cool and quirky front bar where guitars, oars and a whole assortment of bits and bobs fill up every space, this is a great pub for a quiet drink with friends in North London.

With every area joined together by small corridors and rambling staircases, you won't quite get lost, but it makes The Faltering Fullback something a little different.

Head here for a quirky pub, where you can eat and drink from a simple yet delightful selection.

• 97 Haverstock Hill NW3, +44 (0)20-7483 1261 Wander away from the many tourist pubs in Greenwich and you might just chance upon the Union.

On warm summer days, there are few finer places to bask than the pub's charming beer garden.

• 56 Royal Hill SE10, +44 (0)20-8692 6258, greenwichunion.com Streatham (or St Reatham, as aspirational locals increasingly have it) is a surprising "off-guidebook" place to find a decent drink, and The Earl Ferrers is among London's finest "local" pubs.

• 208-209 High Holborn WC1, +44 20-7405 8816 This place looks like a thousand other hotel bars up and down the country … until you take into account its location: reached via a half-hidden lift in the lobby of St George's hotel.

• St George's Hotel W1, +44 (0)20-7580 0111, saintgeorgeshotel.com Hidden away in the back streets of Stroud Green in Finsbury Park, the ivy-covered Faltering Fullback is four pubs in one.
