I, along with my work colleagues, regularly frequent this establishment, both for lunch (which is great homemade food and definitely not microwave rubbish) and in the evenings for the friendly staff, great atmosphere, good music and great selection of drinks.

Anyone who speaks to the staff and landlords will soon realise this is very much NOT a Chelsea pub!

And as for the Rangers supporters, who are all super friendly by the way, they have been watching their football here for years, in peace and continue to do so.

I have never seen violence at this place and would be very shocked if the landlords allowed that to happen.

I for one, as a female in my late 20s find this a great pub to come to where I can enjoy myself and feel safe and I will continue to do so for a long time to come .....

Steeped in history, the White Bear Pub in Kennington, with the award-winning White Bear Theatre above, has been on its site since 1780 and has plenty of dramatic stories to tell.

Murphy is quite rightly proud of the food that leaves the open kitchen and I couldn’t wait to sample the menu and The White Bear’s warm hospitality.

Comforting mashed potato blended with flavourful smoked salmon and herbs complemented by the rich creamy soft yolk of the poached egg against the fresh green taste of the spinach.

For the main, I chose The White Bear’s signature dish of Beef Wellington which was cooked to my liking of medium rare.

Alongside the theatre's new writing output, the long-running Lost Classics Project focuses on the production of obscure, underperformed or unperformed plays from previous generations.

This Story of Yours, White Bear Theatre This Story of Yours celebrates its 50th anniversary with a tension-filled, emotionally-charged production at the White Bear Theatre.

The story revolves around Detective Sergeant Johnson, who has beaten a suspected child-molester, Kenneth Baxter, to death.

The story of Johnson’s altercation with Baxter unfolds over three lengthy scenes, with an interval after the second scene.

But the production does feature a cast of admirable performers: Brian Merry (Detective Johnson) oscillates skilfully from outrage to anguish; Emma Reade-Davies (Maureen, Johnson’s wife) elicits empathy from the audience with ease; William Hayes (Chief Inspector Cartwright), plays a compelling hard-nosed, no-nonsense policeman; David Sayers (Kenneth Baxter) portrays submissiveness and assertiveness in equally convincing proportions.
