The Electric Elephant Cafe
The Electric Elephant Cafe and Gallery, South London
The Electric Elephant Cafe opened in September 2008 in the front half of the existing shop.
I was lucky enough to be taught how to cook by my mother and grandmother and cooked from an early age, so when I was offered the premises, I knew the type of food I wanted to serve - food cooked with love and good ingredients.
The clientele are from a wide range of backgrounds and walks of life and enjoy coming to this charming space to drink good coffee and eat lovely home cooked food, chat, read and laugh.
We pride ourselves in providing a warm and welcoming environment and many people have made friends or good business contacts here.
The cafe is a focal point of the historic cobbled Pullens Yards adjacent, where on sunny days you can take a breather on our outdoor seating from the hustle and bustle only a street away at the Elephant and Castle.

I first visited this little cafe back in December 2011, and it’s great to see that business is thriving and that it’s lost none of its down-to-earth charm.
Despite being located in a rapidly gentrifying part of Elephant and Castle, the cafe still retains an unhurried, community vibe, where you don’t feel pressured to vacate your seat as soon as you’ve finished your coffee.
The side door of the cafe opens up into Iliffe Yard, a short cobbled road populated by arts workshops, fashion designers & makers, filmmakers, graphic artists, jewellers, glassworkers, painters, potters, photographers, printmakers and sculptors.
The cafe interior is informal.

food location
Situated near the top of the Walworth road and adjacent to the artists’ community in IliffeYard is this lovely little cafe and sandwich bar, regaling under the distinctive name of the Electric Elephant.
Serving fresh soup, salads, organic pastries, sandwiches, toasties, fairtrade organic coffee and a ton of tasty cakes, the cafe also doubles up as a gallery showing off work from the nearby Pullens Yards artists.
The bread pudding was especially delicious, and the coffee was good too (although I would have preferred a proper cup or mug to the paper one).
