Warren Buffett's favorite NYC restaurant, Smith & Wollensky: REVIEW
food
The plaque bearing Buffett's name at Smith Wollensky.
Dennis Green/Business Insider When Warren Buffett visits New York City, he has one go-to restaurant: Smith Wollensky.
We don't have millions of dollars to spend on a meal with Buffett.
But, we were able to make a reservation at Smith Wollensky ourselves.
So, in an effort to eat like the famous investor, five Business Insider reports headed to Smith Wollensky and told the staff to give us the Warren Buffet treatment.

I love, love, love Italian food, so when I was told in the summer a genuine, real article Italian spot had opened in Colchester, I immediately put it on my ‘must-visit’ list.
As we waited for our starters we chomped on fresh, homemade Italian bread, with was a touch sweet (almost like a brioche) and was doused in good, peppery olive oil.
Lots of homemade tomato and béchamel sauce, firm pasta tubes, and a generous meaty filling.
From the welcome we received, to the humble service and excellent quality food, the recommendation I’d had was spot on.
There are lots of pizza and pasta Italian imposter restaurants out there so it’s nice to find somewhere that’s genuinely authentic.

As nice as it is to practically hibernate, we can’t be hermits all winter, especially when you’re looking for love.
Shrouded in mystery, Smith & Whistle connects to the Sheraton Grand Park Lane hotel and offers a exciting range of cocktails, unrivalled wine list and clever comfort food combinations that’ll warm even the coldest of us through and through.
Cocktails were a mix of twisted prohibition classics reworked for a modern palate and includes the easy drinking The Big Sleep (whiskey, creme de peche, Fernet Branca and orange bitters) and Detective Inspector Smith (whiskey, lemon, sugar, Angostura bitters and an IPA foam) – a drink that Raymond Chandler himself would no doubt approve of.
A surprising highlight for both myself and my date were the toilets, situated in the opulent Sheraton Grand Park Lane hotel itself, were cavernous and glamorous, with mirrored walls that seemed to go on for eternity.
Although the toilets may have been a talking point, Smith & Whistle itself has a relaxed, personal feel, helped no end by the knowledgeable staff who curate the cocktails, menus and offer a second to none service.

(Deb Lindsey /For The Washington Post) (Good) One-size-fits-all is typically not the style of restaurant most of us are looking for, at least not until we get the text that family or friends with a catalogue of tastes are coming to town, and since we live here, we get to pick the restaurant for lunch or dinner.
(Deb Lindsey /For The Washington Post) “We push ourselves to find ways to say ‘yes,’ ” says Jeffrey Lefcourt, the founder and managing partner of the Smith.
Zucchini flatbread sounds as riveting as watching paint dry — confession: zucchini and I aren’t friends — but the way the snack is presented here, as sheer slices of raw squash with buttery burrata, peppery arugula and garlic vinaigrette to tie everything together, makes a believer out of a skeptic.
(Deb Lindsey /For The Washington Post) Spring pea empanadas with goat cheese and jalapeño crema.
The Smith is no exception, and I like how the kitchen, headed by Brian Ellis, treats the subject, shaping seafood into little “tots,” garnishing them with apple-jalapeño chutney and affixing them to their plate with white sauce.
