Misato Restaurant | Wardour Street | Chinatown London
food
Those queues snaking out the door along Wardour Street confirm only one thing – Misato is Chinatown’s go-to spot for lunching workers, tourists and Japanese-fans alike.
Misato has occupied its Chinatown locale long before Japanese cuisine was omnipresent on London’s streets, so let’s just say it’s had enough time to perfect its tasty, home-cooking-style dishes which remain unchanged since opening over 25 years ago.
Importing the vast majority of ingredients from the Far East, authenticity is key at Misato ensuring their sushi, bento boxes and curries are as close to a genuine taste of Japan as possible.
From Asahi to sake, Misato also presents a decent selection of Japanese beverages to wash that Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box down with.
As they say in Japan.

PORK KATSU CURRY | MISATO | £6 — LONDON CHEAP EATS
food
Misato is a pretty authentic no-frills Japanese eatery in Chinatown, offering a selection of fresh sashimi and sushi as well as other Japanese classics like udon and soba noodles, teriyaki chicken and ginger pork.
I mean, just look at the size of this pork cutlet in my katsu curry, with salad and a really nice homemade mayo dressing - gargantuan.
When I return, I'm going to try their pork ginger bento box, also £8.
Pork stir-fried in a ginger sauce comes with rice, salad, two pieces of seafood dumplings, a salted prawn, two pieces of maki, edamame beans and a slice of fresh orange.
This may well be the most affordable non-chain Japanese restaurant in London.

“The Staff are Unbelievably Rude!
I´ve been to this restaurant several times before because the food is very good value for the portion size but today I vowed that I will never go to Misato again.
The staff must have some basic English yet they behave as if they´re mute, they don´t seem to know the meaning of the word Manners as they do not greet customers and you'd think they'd get shot if they were to manage a smile and a 'hello', instead they can just about mumble 'How many?'
To cut a long story short, if you'd like to experience the epitome of WORST STAFF SERVICE then by all means go to Misato, otherwise spare yourself the misery and go elsewhere.”
