The crispy wheat discs had a good crunch and the sweet tamarind sauce, yoghurt, coriander chutney and chickpea vermicelli all tasted incredibly fresh.

The side of sesame honey chilli and garlic potatoes were a great accompaniment too and again very good value as far as sides go.

While I can’t comment on any of the other Cinnamon restaurants across the city, I’ve got every faith that they’re just as good as Vivek’s newest opening.

Modern, delicately spiced Indian food which holds close Indian traditions – but adds a little bit of Western London on the side.

A good cocktail, feasting on the many chaats and a kheer brulee to finish.

Cinnamon Bazaar is the latest restaurant & cocktail bar from Vivek Singh's range of Cinnamon restaurants, situated in London’s Covent Garden.

They are a dining concept that mixes real Indian heritage with urban London, and their menus have been inspired by the marketplaces that lie on the trading routes that connect the empires of the Old World.

The cross-cultural dining experience embraces the democratic spirit of a bazaar, making them a real cultural melting pot – the perfect place to eat, drink, relax and celebrate.

Their private dining room Khari Baoli is situated on the first floor above the hustle & bustle of the restaurant, the picturesque dining room accommodating 12 – 30 and features its very own private bar.

It is a democratic place for people to meet, eat, drink, exchange ideas, work and celebrate.

Vivek had enthused about the chaat menu so by the time the pretty plates of food arrived we were itching to try.

And, on the menu we shared, there were four chaats – all delicious, though my personal favourite was the Watermelon chaat (bottom left in the picture) made with pressed watermelon, amaranth seeds, date chutney and masala cashew nut.

We also enjoyed papdi chaat -crisp wheat with tangy tamarind, yoghurt and chickpea vermicelli, jodhpuri kachori chaat, – spiced onion dumplings with curried white pies and a chutney medley and dahi bhalla chaat – chilled lentil dumplings with spiced yoghurt and toasted cumin.

Starters comprised lamb galauti kebab on a flaky saffron paratha, Tandoori chutney paneer tikka, and a pepper fry of curry leaf and crack black pepper fried shrimp in a pastry basket.

The lamb galauti was delicious with a really moist meaty patty on a light, fragrant paratha.

An offshoot of the iconic Cinnamon Club, serving Indian food with a twist.

The inspiration behind Cinnamon Bazaar may be a traditional marketplace, but don’t go expecting to haggle.

With rose gold walls, rich pink silk awnings and flower baskets hanging from the ceiling, this is a pimped-out bazaar for the business-lunch crowd.

As an offshoot of Westminster’s Cinnamon Club – an old hand at high-end Indian dining in London – this kitchen specialises in imaginative fusions of East and West.

But if it’s a swanky work lunch you’re after, Cinnamon Bazaar will deliver the goods.
